Hi All,
Just moseying around on the web and I came across a pic of what looks like a t80 tank with something resembelling a German Marder APC turret.
It's in a book titled BTV (Armour Troops) Almanac. Part 15th pic down.
Here's the link. (Sorry, I don,t know how to make it 'live')
http://www.aviapress.com/viewonelkit.htm?BTV-001
I was wondering if any of you knew what it is!
TIA
Tom

Found it- it's a Type 95 Kyu-Go (Ha-Go) Japanese tank. Here's a link to a data sheet on it:

Hi Tom
I'm pretty sure it is this one you meen.
I'm not sure of the type, but I would say it is an air defence system mounted on a tank chassie. Probably the T-80. I would say it is a 20 or 30 mm chaingun and missile launchers on each side of the gun. It looks like it got a folded down radar just behind the gun. There are most certain somebody on this site who knows the right type and armament.
Cheers
Erik

Ah, seen... I read the question as 15th pic down, not Part 1, 5th pic down. My bad.
I had a much easier time finding the Kyu-Ha! This Russian one is really obscure!

Hups, I have to fresh up on my knowledge about eastern armour. Would not like to go up against that "comrade" in my upgraded M-577 tin can.
Cheers

A little beefier that the BTR-T. Both would be neat T-55 conversions. I saw something about SP Designs producing conversions for these 2 vehicles but I can't find a website for SP Designs.

The BMP-T is based on the T-72/T-90 chassis. It has been presented with both one and two 30mm autocannon (the same gun or a short evolutionary jump up fromt he one inthe BMP-2 series).
As for SP Designs, look here Paul: http://saammodels.tripod.com
The BTR-T's, to be used on the Tamiya T-55 hull, will be coming out in a couple of months. Patience grasshopper... :-)
As for the purpose of the BMP-T, it is a heavy Infantry carrier designed for high survivability in built up areas, along the lines of what the IDF has been doing, but using the Russkies experiences in Chechnyia as a measuring stick.
non the less, not a nice toy to be shooting at you...
