Some of the Warriors in the MOD gallery for Op Telic have one or more round things strapped to the front. Almost the size of a roadwheel but has more depth and looks like it's wrapped in a burlap like material.

A wild guess about the round things strapped to the front; Telephone cable. We used to have ready to use cables wrapped in a similar material. But as I said, a wild guess.

I support the second proposal razor wire rolls.
From what I've seen on British vehicles, telephone cable rolls are often carried at the back and there is no such fabric cover on them.

I agree with Derek in that it is a bulk pack of comms wire.
I used similar reels in the Canadian Army...it wasn't fun transfering it to the vehicle cable reel Alvis.
Easy to set up between positions...if it breaks just splice it together.

Just incase you need it, It is defently D10 cable, its spare rolls for when the one at the back runs out, i handle the stuff on a day to day basis.
