Well - here's my King Tiger Porsche Turret build - this is my interpretation of the colors I had asked about in an earlier topic - for some reason, I wanted a lot of Olivgrun.... this is the Tamiya kit with Eduard photoetch zimmerit and screens. I have a set of Fruil working tracks on order so only temporarily installed the kit rubber band tracks. Since I have so many kits in my stash - I don't bother to take time in weathering - I go for the museum build look. Guess one day when I finish them all (ha!) I can go back and do some weathering....

Happy Labor Day (and God bless the Katrina victims).

I wouldn't call it amateur, looks a very nice build. Think you might have fun adding the Friul tracks though! Also it's a bit cleaner than I like, but you've built her how you want her to look and that's what this hobby is all about in my opinion.

looks great there chris. ... from the pics, i noticed that the tow cables and the metal parts of the tools (axe, hammer, etc) should be metallic grey, not silver or black respectively.

it's interesting that you plan to make a 'display-in-museum' dio. i haven't seen anybody done that yet (?). all you going to need are some civillian figs and some velvet rope...

Know what you mean about the paints for the metallic parts - I used Model Master Steel for the cables and tried mixing in some flat black to darken it but they didn't mix very well. Sort of worked on the Tiger (P) in the background of the second photo - but not for the other two for some reason. For the ax and sledge hammer, I used Model Master Gunmetal - a very very dark grey - I think it looks a little darker in the photos than to the eye.

As for the "museum dio" - not really a diorama as such - just kinda like to think of all of my shelves in my hobby room as a museum of sorts (?).

maybe not.

thanks for the comments!
