It still looked wrong somehow Karl and I think I know what it is. Take a look at the last pics you posted....there are what appear to be rust runs on the sidewalls, but they're not vertical. The area around the cross is round on one side and follows the square closely on the other. It does look a bit 'yellow' but it looks great on the second pic, which is, I suspect the real colour, so I think the pics probably don't do it justice. Once it's dirtied up a bit this is going to be a cracker!

*EDIT*
I don't know which is which now. I've just realised that there are either two vehicles or they are before & after. Which is which? The bottom two are the latest? I hope not, as I think the top two look better apart from the area around the cross.

I think it looks better, but should have kept the circle around the cross maybe?

Karl,

i love the vehicle and it's color scheme BUT it isn't quite correct. Now it looks like it has been sprayed on by the crew, a white wash was rarely done this way. Mostly the men applied it by brush. Conclusion, their should be some brushstrokes and irregular patterns on it. The rust doesn't look right either.

Artistic license, ok and very nice
realistic aspect, no

Quinten, Spray guns were carried in most vehicles. The camouflage was supplied as a paste which could be thinned with petrol or water, which could then be sprayed. OK, it was in short supply and there was the problem of thinning it, but spray guns were relatively easy to obtain, as I said most vehicles carried them and they could be attached to engine driven compressors. Apparently a lot of unit commanders insisted on proper spray application if fuel could be obtained, which then produced the most durable finish. To say that Karl is inaccurate is wrong. Never say never. There is every chance it could have been sprayed on.

well,i liked it the fiirst way ,and i like it the second way too i dont think field applied winterwashes looks the same on every vehicle, different crew different pattern.even different pressure in the compressor would give a change in looks.so if you are happy with the result its ok,just like a crew would be..i did it with a brush and this is what i whipped up

I like the second one far better than the first. It looks more convincing now. The only thing that is wrong are the rust streaks as mentioned in previous posts. Keep it up.

Cheers
