Hi all,

Well, finished my Humvee......just a normal OOTB build. I used the Academy kit, which fitted best in my budget Probably not the best kit around but hell, I had fun with it and that's the most important thing for me!

Hope you like it (my first 3-tone NATO scheme vehicle, 2nd modern ever lol....what an experience :-) )

Time for some more modern (Dutch) stuff in my collection...hmm....some YPR-765's and Leopard 2A6's maybe?

Nicely done there matey. Looks pretty damn good to me. Looks like weathering was done via airbrush?

The windscreen looked like they were airbrushed once as well?

My next model is the Tamiya Humvee so it would be nice to pick up some tips from you.

I done weathering this way:

- I started with a wash
- Then I followed with the AB....dust coat with 75% buff and 25% earth brown
- I finished it with rainmarks using buff

So.....not very shocking but effective

Good luck on yours!

Just a few suggestions.

Your turn signals in the front and the brake lights in the rear, are supposed to be glossy. Even dirtied up they're reflective.

The rear reflectors should be red and reflective. (ie. they should stand out in comparison to the rest of the vehicle)

on the weapons station, the area around the hatch opening should be black, since there is a piece of rubber weatherstripping there that creats a seal when the hatch is closed.

Did you put the clear plastic headlights in backwards?

I like the weathering, especially on the windows.

Martin,
Camouflage and weathering look top notch. I saw the pics before the wreathing and thought that I wished I could paint camo that good. Thanks for your entry, it’s a nice choice.

Hey

Thanks for the comments, I'll use them!

The headlights are applied as being explained in the instructions.....something not ok?

Thanks,
Martin

Hey Martin,
I just now noticed the head lights, there are backwards. The little "dimple should be facing in." You should have a rouns surface facing forward.

Great job though!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Great lol, the instructions weren't clear about it, I thought I had to add them this way

I wouldnt worry too much about those though as the rest of the model is still pretty damn good. I will look out for that when i construct my hummer though.

Perhaps to save the headlights a little, just lighten up the centre so the "dimple" wouldnt be highlighted as much as it does now.

Regarding this campaign, i was wondering if the M113A2 ever took part in Somalia? Anyone knows?

Don't know about the A2 version but the M113 was used by UN forces (Pakistan?) during the conflict....

Pakistani M113A2s were part of the relief convoy. There was no US armor in Somalia at the time of Operation Gothic Serpent (official name for Blackhawk Down opeartion). That was one of the problems with the Op. So no US M113s.

bugger...thought i could enter into this campaign seeing as i only started my APC about 2 - 3 weeks ago which is within the campaign duration.

Will wait until an OIF type campaign shows up before bringing my pictures in then.
