Hello Everybody
As promise with some delays, please find below the 1st pictures of my AMX30/DCA from Heller Oldies but Goodies kit.

All comments and critics are welcome, please don't be tuff just hard but fair.








The turret basket is srachtbuildt and Eduard PE set AMX30/105 has been used.

the weathering is superb! the chipping paint effect is very nice. your heller's AMX turned out well.

Hi,
the weathering technique is good but I'm not sure that the Saudis would have let their vehicles turning so heavily worn out.

The addition of Eduard PE set is a good idea and gives your model some fineness that the Heller kit lacks Your scratchbuilt work on the turret is great too as there is not a lot of info about this version.

The base paint of the tank is XF-62 then some Maskol has been randomly applied when it is completely dried, I applied a layer of TS-46.

This layer is allowed to dry and the Maskol areas are gently removed revealing the OD base layer. After that the overall tank is covered with diluted layer of TS-46 in order to unify the color.
Weathering techniques: raw amber oil paint solution diluted in petroleum ether is applied.
Brush technique: for the OD layer is brushed with Humbrol 94 and concerning the Yellow desert base is brushed with Tamiya Buff.
Concerning the exhaust pipe and the rear engine is weathered with dilued black oil paint solution in petroleum ether is applied. Dry brush with humbrol black and humbrol 133 finalize the weathering.
Metallic dry brush is done using metallic pencil from Caran d’Ache easy technique that leaves only few metallic chips better than a dry brush.
Tracks are painted with black for the rubber part and 50-50 yellow oil paint and petroleum ether solution is applied. Pastel powder is applied to the track as well as the wheels.

Amazing weathering ! Congrats !

Just one point : in reality you never let your jerrican like that, I mean the nose towards down, but it was just a little opinion to fond something to say about your realy nice model !

Firstly, Welcome to Armorama..

Secondly, Very nice build of the AMX30/DCA.. The weathering looks great!

Now somecomments I have, no no... just 1 comment, no worries, it's a fair comment ...
- The 2nd picture, the gloss above the cool looking chain, I think you applied a little too much "glue" there. Correct me if i'm worng.

Anyway... 1st build... way better than mine. Hope you got your 2nd build in mind.

Well my fisrt model was 15 years ago and i stopped during more than 10 years

So well it is my new model since a long time ago

I'm currenlty working on an USMC Humvee i can post picts on workbench forum

Not a critique, but more a question. The tracks---they appear to be very tight, that is the track is well above the surface of the road wheels rather than resting on top of them. I am not familiar with this vehicle so perhaps this is the way actual AMX tracks actually look, however since you asked for comments, I thought I'd ask

Hi Steve,
the AMX30 chassis has got return rollers and the tracks are kept tight however as there is no retaining ring inside or outside the sprocket unlike other MBT's.
