Hi,
I'm trying to find information on the german Normandy beach defenses. Looking for photos or drawings of bunker designs, trench system and gun emplacements. Gathering info to build a diorama.

Thanks,

Hi- you can check out Gold, Juno, Sword by Georges Bernage. Click the link to take you to the Amazon (uh, UK I'm afraid).
It's French but has the text in English as well and features then and now shots of locations, plus info and descriptions of bunkers. It might not be definitive, but it might give some ideas...

There was also a recent diorama by Steve Zaloga in Military Modelling with a small bunker. In the article, there's a brief write up of some bunker examples.

One thing I remember was that they were mostly painted in camo colors!

Hi there
First of all, I don't think it'll be to hard for you to get any info on D-Day.

Second: Stephen Chickens book "Guide to the Normandy Beaches" has drawings and photos of bunkers, trenchsystems, obstacle the lot. Worth a look.

Osprey will release a new book in november called: D-Day fortifications in Normandy, written by S.J. Zaloga.

Good luck with the search, and I hope you'll find what you're looking for.

PanzerTracts has released a book on German tank turret bunkers, complete with scale drawings and extensive photo coverage. I have one and it is nice. Covers a bunch of variations on the theme using turrets up to about Mk. IV size. Some oddidities with cancelled tank development program turrets are covered (what else would you do with them).

Not covered are the French tank turret bunkers I saw on my trip to the invasion beaches, but I suspect the bunker designs were about the same.
