I just got this kit from my wife for something for me to do instead of me 24/7 always in BED ( I know it's alittle to much info I just wanted you to know why she did it. ) and I thought it looked like allot of fun to build. Problem is I am not sure what era it was used in.

What countries used it and when if you can.Was it in Veitnam ; ODS ; OIF . And did the IDF use this type of M110's.

Would this M110 kit have any PE or Resin sets for it to make it even more fun.

Is there any good pictures for reference's during this M110 version's during that era's

PS; What was your favorite era and why. Because this is real new. I have never come accross this type of Gun before. And at the BIG A and the womderful ( great People) would know and allot of cool stuff thats around out there to get me motivated again.

M110A2 was used following Vietnam up through the mid-'90s. USMC had them in service till late '90s. They have been used by just about all NATO allies and Israel. It was one of the most widely used heavy artillery pieces.

Eduard does a PE set for it too.

Here is more info on it. http://www.fas.org/man/dod-101/sys/land/m110a2.htm

Google search will give hundreds of photos as well.

The Italeri kit is a good kit. Only downfall are the tracks, they are very stiff and can be hard to work with. There is also a resin AM track set for them , can't remeber by who though.

Here is mine, M110 Vietnam version w/o muzzle brake. (Sorry for the photo quality, old camera that sucked.)

SP Designs do the replacement tracks. Look up SAAM on google to find the site (yes, it is my site.)

The last unit in US service to use the M110A2 was the 1/151 FA of the Minnesota NG, and I was able to call fire for some of their last missions. (not THE last, but the missions the day before they were "retired" with all the fanfare etc...)

I personally feel that it was a terrible mistake to retire the 203mm. Maybe redesign it for full under armor use, maybe on the M1 chassis, but to deprive the Army of such a nice throw weight of metal seems to be criminal. Oh well, my opinion anyhow.

I have built this kit and yes, the tracks are about the only problem. Which is why I convinced Sergej at SP Designs to make new resin tracks. They are not much more than a BETTER way to have tracks, and they fit a heck of a lot better to allow for that proper sag.

(Yes, it is named Dewey. The last Battery of M110A2's, 4 vehicles, were named Huey, Luey, Dewey, and Doc. Really.)
