Here are some photos of the finished model. I re-did the Ballistic Windows on the cargo bed armor. I did not like the old ones. I think the new ones look more like the real ones. any and all comments are as always welcome. I hope that you like it. The rest of the photos are located here ace

Dave,
Looks awesome. I love it. One suggestion. The added lights up on the grill sides, these are most likely IR lights and should have gloss black lenses. Other than that, looks great to me. Now I really need to start mine. Great job.

Great build Dave.
Perhaps it's just the angle of the shot but the ballistic glass looks too tall compared to the real truck in your 2nd pic.

Thanks Gino. I thought that you may have been correct so I referred to my photos and they are in fact clear driving lenses. Not sure what purpose they serve but added them as on the real truck.

I think your right. Thanks for pointing this out . I will try to fix that.

Here is a photo of the lights added to the front grill.

Thanks everyone. I just corrected the height of the Ballistic windows that Tom kindly pointed out to me. I will add some more photos of the corrected model in a little while. Is there anything else these tired old eyes missed? Your help is always appreciated.

Great job on your truck Dave! I like it very much!
Only thing i can see thats somehow not right is the ace card, which seems to be shrunk in height and therefore being more square than in reality.

Cheers

Dave,

Looks great! One suggestion---I think an oil wash of burnt umber or a drybrush on the box's boltheads and door bar would bring out a lot of detail because right now it looks too flat, which is not the case because you have all the boltheads in place. I noticed that the photo shows a lot of brown streaking and rust on those areas which only a dirty oil wash can bring out.

Be careful because some oil washes can make the model have a satin sheen.

Other than that, looks cool!

As I said in the in-progress thread, this is going to be awesome, and now you have proven this true! Supurb job.

My only thing I noticed is the cab mounted .50 in your picture below

But picularly, in the first photo (showing the right rear side), this mount is missing! What is going on here?

Either way, it is a beauty worthy of a spot next to your 'nam guntrucks!

I'm sure it is just lik ethe Guntrucks in Vietnam. They changed constsntly and you can find many pics of the same truck in different configurations. Same-same now in Iraq.

What Gino says is true. They took the front 50 off. The front mount was to much for the windshield frame. I should have all the corrections done and new photos some time later today.

Simply stunning !
I like the pic with your model and the original as it perfectly shows how much you successfully managed to depict a precise vehicle.
Even if there are some details mentioned by fellow members, it is a great job.

G'day Dave
it looks fantastic, those ballistic windows are interesting, im guessing it's simply bullet proof glass right?

Nice model there mate. Looks pretty damn accurate to the reference photo you placed there.

Which manufacturer makes this model?

Plus ca change, plus c'est la meme chose.
Here we are, 30 years on and the soldiers in the field are still doing field mods to travel highway 1.
Very nice nice work on the truck. I like the little touches such as the folded jump seats.

Thanks Al. Where would we be without the old enlisted ingenuity. But in this case most of this truck is manufactured as a kit in Calif. The Govt. is shipping them out as soon as they can be built. They can be assembled by the motor pool crew in under four hours. I wish that we had some set ups like these when I was in.

Here is the corrected Ace. I shortened the Ballistic glass and made the emblems longer. I finished the weathering and added the round mirrors that I had forgot.
