I am thinking about building a Lend Lease Soviet M4A2 Sherman. I'm pretty
sure that no one makes an injection molded version so that leaves me with
needing to get a conversion kit. What is the best conversion on the market
(Verlinden, The Tank Workshop, ADV/Azimut are all that I know of that makes
one) and what base kit would I need to use this conversion on?
Thanks!

Tank Workshop produces good product and is trypically cheaper than Verlinden (my experience with Verlinden has not been good - bad castings and broken parts) I have never used ADV so I cannot comment.

You could start with Italeri's "Marine M4A2."

The only problem with this kit is that it doesn't come with the correct rear plate for an M4A2 because it has a special one to accommidate the large vents that come off of the top.

Adam,
I have heard about various problems with each of the conversions that you named....
I did remember that Bill Miley has done at least the early model - I found numerous references by searching for "M4A2 Chesapeake" over at google.
The Tankworkshop conversion is probably the easiest to come by of all the products mentioned thus far.
I think that the TW stuff fits pretty well to the Italeri hull and the tamiya hulls also... though you have to supply the sponsons (of course )
here's something that I found about the Verlinden conversion -

Sounds like a fun project.
Later,
Tim

I have built 3 M4A2 shermans, one for the free French, the other for Russia, I have always used the Verlinden hull, now I am not saying it is the best. But I have never had problems with them. When you do decide on what to do, be sure to do the markings (slogans) free had. Makes it come to life.
