hello,

i am looking for some help with what i hope will be my first diorama.

the kit will be tamiya's 1/35 SdKfz 7/1 Flakvierling, and the base i plan to use is from Hansa Systems, no.35006, called "Diorama Street Base".

I couldn't find a link to the individual base, but if you scroll about half way down you'll see it:

http://www.hansasystemsusa.com/products.htm#kits

the setting i have in mind is a france / normandy summer. i will be using DML's Panzer Riders Lorraine as SS troops sitting/standing around, and probably some verlinden tank crew in relaxed pose (i couldn't find any half track crew in the poses i wanted).

the note with this Hansa base says "A twig for a tree, some pebbles, lichen and grass from WOODLAND SCENICS [their caps] to complete this easy diorama".

i am in the UK and have found online stores selling WS stuff, but i admit i am at a loss as to exactly what to buy.

what do i need to get re ground cover , trees etc and what glues or sprays do i need.

i have my regular kit-making stuff and white glue, but that's about it!

sorry for the long-winded post, but i'm really keen on getting this right!

any help would be much appreciated!

kind regards,

Nicholas

Hello and welcome on Armorama.

Use as much from nature itself because it has allready the natural color.
White glue is fine for diorama stuff.

I don't know if the base allready is finished of it has to be build though.
But it looks good.
It is just playing with materials like sand, grass and airbrush.

Have you pics from your work??

Sounds like you have a good plan in the works.
Sometimes it is tough to get some name brand stuff.

Here are some foliage ideas
- local craft store in the dried flower isle - lots of cool stuff there.
- rail road stores usually have lots of cross over stuff
- sticks from the garden do make nice tree trunks
- steel wool and hurbs make foilage
- old paint brush bristles cut to length for grasses
- heki grasses are available in Europe

All these ideas are documented on the site.
