Hi, here's my first photo for the "single figure diorama + window"

Thanks for all your other advice in my previous posts, but I'm going to ask for some more.

Any suggestions or comments? It's the only photo I have for the moment, I bought a roll of 24xp and 14 of those shots were exposed the last 10 were too dark despite 2 shop lights, interior lights a a camera flash. My camera has finnally given up the ghost so I'll have to keep an eye out for a new one, a digital or replace it with another pawn shop special. When replace the camera I'll put up some other snaps and I'll enter those in the contest.

Any suggestions for a title, the current one is a little bland.

I like the subject but I am biased. Is that one of the Tamiya Brit Inf on Patrol?? What colors did u use for the uniform and webbing/equipment. Its hard to tell from your picture. Does he have his shoulder flash?? 2nd DIv, 3rd Div?? The groundwork and base look good, but what is he doing with the pick?? Just wondering......maybe there is a story behind why he has a pick and no rifle?? Burial detail?? Buddy trapped in rubble?? Diggin in??

I agree with bison44. You must show the story behinde the dio...why does this soldier have an axe instead of a rife???...is he looking for a lost buddy???...is he looking for a certain area to plant a mine or something like that??? What is the story you wanna show???

The figure is well done and the groudword is very realistic :-)
Do you have a title for the dio???
suggestions : "the search still continues" "we shall never loose faith" "the perfect spot" (this depends on what your stroy is.

Keep up the good work....I like the dio lots!...its very different from what everyone eles has got!...

about the picture; Try to make a photoshoot in daylight. You don't have to go through the fuss with the axtre lights and.... the colours look more natural. The best time to make that picture is early morning or late afternoon. Never make pics around noon. The light is too intense.

What I see.... a very nice figure. Don't appologize for the quality of it. For what I can see, I think it's quite good. And remember only two things are most important here : you should enjoy the hobby and you must like the results yourself..... and only use our comments for improvement if you fully agree. If not agree on a comment..... let it as it is. t's your hobby and your style of modeling.

But again, for what I see it isn't bad at all !!! Keep up the good work and ..... ENJOY !!

Nice work. As you know, (as I always know with my work) there are things you can do next time.
Next time detail the base. With a 3x3 base you have room to add a bit of detail to dress it up some. Add 1/4 round molding or a fancy bit of molding. The more detail the better, from the table up.

It's nearly impossible to see but he has a bren gun laid out in front of him, with a slight valley dug into the rubble for a firing position. Clearer photos should clear that up, you can see the slight outline of the gun on his left (facing him) leg. from the back it's easier to see, he's standing on some trash and I cut up some brass wire to represent spent casings. I think he's just re-enforcing an existing position, but that should become clearer with more work.

He doesn't have the shoulder flash becuase I dont know if I can paint one, I might buy an archer set if it's half as nice as the rank markings. I painted his uniform Lifecolor Japanese brown and his webing tamiya buff with a bunch of brown washes to the webbing to tone it down. I liked the jap brown becuase it's a really faded look, it's probably not 100% authentic but it looks nicer then khaki to me.

Yeah it's one of the brits on patrol, I was going to replace the head with a ultracast one, but the practice on the kit head was turing out well so I ran with it. He's the guy whos carrying the rifle across his chest, I moved his hand a little bit to carry the pick, and moved his foot a little so his one foots resting on a piece of rubble.

the only reason I took the photo inside is becuase the suns setting before I get home from work. I'll give my old camera another shot and try to get some more photos.
