Hey lads!
Here are a couple of pics of my new Sherman turret. Have been working off a photo which showed considerable casting 'flaws' around the sides and on the applique cheek armour, which I have attempted to recreate with Milliput. The Tamiya kit shows vertical welds on the upright join on the cheek armour, but my photo has horizontal welding here which I have re-done allong with the edges...
Oh, and if anyone can give me a casting number (2 or 3 digits) for the turret sides and a rough idea on position I would be most grateful...
Bradley
There was also thick irregular slabs of welding for the pistol port...

I really love it when people post photos like that cause its really helpful tips!
It just never occured to me that you could use milliput to change the shape of the plastic.....although i am mentally challenged.

Thanks lads
Chris - those are some great pics of the M4A1. Will help me finish off my other tank...
Nick - The surface has just been coated with Revell liquid glue, a little at a time and then I smear it in with a #1 digit from my right hand... It congeals and then goes tacky a bit and then dry. At this stage you can then lightly sand it back to smooth the glue, leaving 'pits' if you will.( This is more the surface you would find on a Sherman)... Be careful to only apply it to the flat areas and watch out for the details...
Jeremy - Hope it helps, as I think this is the most fun part pre painting...
