Hi guys,

Here are some photo’s of my Jagdtiger.
It’s Revell’s kit (1/35 with a little PE for the tool clamps and grills, some styrene poles and I re-did the welds with putty and with a scalpel.
I used Friul tracks.
The whole thing was painted with Tamiya paints and weathered with a oil piant wash.
To simulate scratches I used a washing-up sponge to stipple the base color on.
And for mud I used artists pigment mixed-up with water and a little white glue.
And to simulate the bare metal on the tracks I used graphite powder.

Tell me what you think and what I can do better.

TIA Jan-Willem

That is a nice build. You certainly nailed the paint job and the whole look.

Humble suggestions: The raised parts of the tracks need to look more like bare metal.

Also some wear marks along the edges and along the sides of the vehicle. (like you did on the boxes at the back)

Blacken up the exhausts and surrounding area.

A small wear mark under the missing track link would be a nice touch.

Otherwise great job.

I agree with Glen, you have done a great job. It would improve the look greatly by giving the whole vehicle a spray with matt varnish to get rid of the decal silvering though.

Looks good, How did you apply the "mud"?

One thing the red and white rods on the side would be rods to clean the barrel and not painted red and white. They would be either steel or wood. I made the same mistake when I saw the red and white rods on an artillery piece where they are used to aim the gun.

And you did not put camo under the missing fenders, something that really bugs some modelers, but I figure they would have been painted shortly after the fenders came up missing. the crew would not want that red strip down the side to give them away.

It's nicely or rather well painted. I'm just curious if those color on the tracks are mud or rust. If those are rust, IMHO, they should not be that rusty unless they were not used for very long time...maybe you could just tone down the rust effect a little. One more thing, you did not paint the under hull (behind the tracks) with the same body color ...I don't think they were left as red primer. Overall, it looks fantastic

Cheers

Arvin, towards the end of the Wat it was surprising just what got left in primer, paint was in very short supplu and less of a priority. I think you have a valid point about the tracks though, they would be unlikely to be this rusty on a vehicle that was in use as this is.
Jim, I'm confused about the red strip you refer to. Where? All I can see where the fenders have gone is the green base colour? Which in any case I think would have been either the primer colour or dark yellow.

Thank's guy's for the kind words.
As for the uderside and behind the tracks, that's suposed to be mud.
The base color is green so I stoped the yellow cammo patern where the fenders would be.
Heavy german armour had a base of green after 1944(I heard).
I used Phil Stutcinskas as a guide (from Tamiya magzine).
It is still a bit to "clean" but I still have to work on that.
As for the red and white pole, it gifs a nice contast to the cammo.

janwillem,
I agree that the bare metal on the tracks needs to be more pronounced. Also, can't tell if the guide teeth have been done (bare metal), if not they should be done. Track colors look a bit bright.
Camouflage and overall build looks excellent. I'd go

Nice looking kitty cat Jan.

I agree that it needs some more weathering and a coat of flat varnish but thats about it from me. You've done a good job there.

Great Build. Jagdtiger is one of my favorite beasts. Building the dragon one right now. I agree with the rest of the guys who says it needs a bit of weathering (dont want to beat a dead mule). Build is great though.

Yep, agreed. They could be used as ranging poles when marked this way.
