Gday All,
I have just started work on my first dio / vignette and would like some input.
I am using the photo below as my subject.

I have started the groundwork using Sculptamold and so far have only given it a single coat of Raw Umber Acrylic.

The Panzer II Luchs will be mounted as shown in the following two pics.

So far I am very happy with the way the ground has turned out and am now not so sure I want to cover it with grass. I will probably stick to the photo though and will need to further weather the Panzer to match the terrain.
Any comments more that appreciated.

Regards
Alex

Good morning Alex,
I think your groundwork looks very good and should be a good base for the groundcovering.
I think you should not cover only with grass, it may be the original situation , but on the dio it risks to look boring.
So i would at least put some bushes on the corners of the dio (empty space), or go even a step further , let the Panzer run through some bushes.

Do you intend to add some figures ?

Greetings

CLAUDE

Looks great so far; I would add grass etc to the groundwork (I too use sculptamold) just for a mre natural look.

If youre till questioning if you should grass the dio - I would. The grass actually looks just like Heki grass as reviewed by jackhammer81

Claude,
Thanks for the input. I have no intentions at this time of putting any soldiers on the ground. The Panzer II Luchs was, I believe used mainly as a Recon Tank and would not have had accompanying Infantry.

Hate to be ther bearer of bad news. The pic shows a Panzer II, you have a Panzer II Luchs which was introduced in September 1943. Note the different running gear as a diagnostic. See the reference. That means this tank would have been only delivered in dunkelgelb base coat and should not be panzer gray.

Al,
There's one in every crowd. Mate thanks for the reference. I have done a little more research ( should have done a bit more before) and will now undertake a repaint.
Shouldn't be too difficult and will add a bit more colour to the dio.

Research twice paint once.
