I just spent a long time putting up some pictures in a new album on the MSN site....thanks to some help from people in the chat room the other day.
There are 6 pages.....1st couple are figures and busts.....the last few are dioramas......the last pics are some stuff I did in the '80's for the company Synergy Dio Products....soon to be running again early in 2003 with any luck.
Go have a look and let me know what you think....thanks guys....the album is titled "dioman's stuff" and can be found here http://groups.msn.com/armorama/diomansstuff.msnw?Page=1

Hiya FAUST:
The buildings you're talking about were designed by me for a comapny called Synergy Dio Products back in the late '80's/early '90's.......I am starting the company again hopefully ready to go in early 2003.....some of the old popular products....like the bridge....will be on the market again as well as some new ideas.
Thanks for taking a look.

Yes FAUST....that was called our 7" Inst-o-rama base....it came with all that you see there except the figures and sign post....all the rubble was cast in.....there was even the remains of the 2nd floor and full interior to the building.....that picture was on the box top......the bookstore also was available complete and damaged.

Synergy Dio shut down in 1992....I don't remember a lot of the prices as most were done by VLS but I believe that piece was somewhere between $10 and $15 Cdn at the time.
I still have that piece sitting on my shelf....the figures and sign are gone....hmmmm there is a window.......and I guess I could shave an inch off and add a figure.....a little repaint....and presto.....inst-o-rama for the contest!!!

Very interesting gallery Dioman. I especially liked the Michael Whitman figure with zimeritt base. Great idea. And as others have said the bridge dio is brilliant. Did you cut down opel blitz for the water? Was that a tricky job? The results are fantastic though.

Hi Dioman,
Just looked at your gallery...very nice! I really like the way you display your figures.
Those diorama pieces are very interesting. Lots of character to the buildings. I hope you're able to get the company up and running again soon.
Nice work!

Thanks for the kind comments Plasticbattle......yes I did have to cut the Opel down......a hard job to get right indeed....it was my 1st time doing that and also my 1st time using 2 part plastic resin for water....I didn't know how much heat was generated through the curing proccess and as a result the opel in the picture is actually my 2nd attempt.....the 1st one ended in a gooey mess....luckily I caught it before it was hard and scraped it all off into the waste bin.......the 2nd one was built.....cut down......thin tin foil added where the water would be.....then painted and as you see in the pics.....success!!!! That diorama was used for the front page of the Synergy flier and got a lot of attention world wide back in the late '80's.
As for the Wittman base....I always try to make the base match the figure in some way......the zimmerit on his base and the 007 as I read his tank was marked that way the day he died......the Luftwaffe pilot on the base painted like a German plane of the period would look.....the front and back are painted like the wing tops and the sides are painted as the sides of the fuselage complete with the symbol from the Richenbacher squadron. All this plus I can't afford the expensive wooden turned bases!!!! #:-)
Hiya mel.....thanks also for your kind words.....I hope the company will be up and going in early 2003....everyday I get asked if I have any old Synergy stock as it was very popular when we went out of business.....and soon my hope is to put some of the old favorites back on the market....plus some of my own updated ideas that I have noticed are missing from the hobby too....How's the mountain man coming? I saw the face last night....looking good!!!

Thanks Gatekeeper:
The last few pictures in that album are dioramas I did in the late '80's......and some of the figures were done just last year......so it is quite a lot of time involved yes........All of them were lots of fun to do.
Thanks for your kind comments.

Hi Arthur....yes it is interesting to see everyone else's ideas done on the same figure you've done.....that panzercrew figure was Tamiya's 1st outing into the bigger scale....and I really liked the pose......but it took me a while to figure out some reason for him to be looking down......I was 1st going to make the top of the base look like the top of a Tiger or Pz IV turret....so it would look like he was up on top of his tank looking down.....but then I saw a picture of those SS Grave markers...and the pose came together.
I'm now working on the same figure but with the optional cap and right arm....plus I added some pockets to him so he will be in the reed green denims....I also filled in the holes in the belt and added an enlisted man's belt buckle. I think I'm going to try out a set of PE glasses on him too....just to make him a little different from the 1 I already did.

Grant... great work... i really love the bookstore... what did you use to create the lettering? I have looked everywhere for some letters in a similar scale, but could find nothing. I also scratchbuild quite a few diorama pieces, cast them in RTV, and resell them as plaster kits... but I have never gone into a large scale production., or marketed my pieces other than at shows... I mainly do 1:35 urban western europe architecture, but some bavarian buildings as well... perhaps we should talk!

If I remember correctly.....this was in the late '80's please remeber.....the lettering was found at a model train shop....they were plastic on a sprue with 3 or 4 of the same letters and I believe there were also numbers.
and yes....I would be very interested in chatting with you.....could be benificial for both of us!!!

Hello Everyone,
Just a quick word on the company, Synergy, that Dioman is reviving and I`m pleased to be a part of, for those of you who have not heard of or owned a piece from Synergy I can tell you I was very impressed with the products! Having recently acquiring the footbridge that Grant designed I realized what impressed me about the products from the 80`s, and I`m an old school modeler from the late 70`s that never heard about Synergy, would have to be the overall crispness of the pieces with eyeappealing design. Having said that I had the great pleasure to gaze upon a brand new product soon to be a part of the Synergy line and all I can say is, it`s about time!
Stay tuned and Happy Modeling

Wow sas...I didn't even know that footbridge made it to the public!!! I thought I had the only copy of it here...I built and painted it in the early 90's for the box art but as far as I knew it never made it to production before the company went TU.
I learn something new everyday!!!

Dioman,
Yeah, someone had already put it together so is intact and unpainted, wish I could have seen the pic of this piece that was on the box cover, would have come in handy to see what you did ! Would this type of bridge be used throughout Europe then?
