Hello all ,

The bullet is fired.......
Two weeks ago i received my first professional order .
A shop keeper in the city asked me to build a diorama to promote his unbuild models .
He found me trough this site...
He asked me if i wanted to build a diorama in a desert scene .
So here in the following link you can find the first results....

Heb jij toevallig ook nog enige foto's van een Semovente maar dan wat plaatjes van het interieur ???
Ben ook zo'n geval aan het maken en het is wel gedeeltelijk aangekleed maar ik vind hem toch nog wat kaal ....

( Sorry for the language )

But do you guys have any pics of the interieur of the Semovente ??

Well i hope you like my work ( Again )

Hi Eric....the thumbs look good but I too can't get any farther than just the thumbnails.....when I click on them it goes to what looks like a Dutch site with no english on it. I hope you can fix this....I would love to see the details close up....they look well done in the thumbs!!!

I have heard that that Matilda by Tamiya is not that great a build but I can see that you have fixed that.
I can also see why the store wanted you to build it for them.
Great job,
Andrew

for those who whant to know how i build it
-----------------------------------------------------------

The model i very easy to build i can recommend it for beginners .
I build the model as the pictures shows compleet naked from paint .
and made some alterations where the etchings were placed .
The etchings for this model were easy to applie and to make , this etch set is also recommended for beginners .
I glued als the etch parts to the tank with super glue .
Before i sprayed the tank in desert yellow i sprayed i matt black first and let this dry overnight .
After it was completely dry then i sprayed it desert yellow .
Then i applied washes with oils ( burnt sienna , raw umber ).
There are several washes applied to recieve this end result .
The chipping was done with polish metal from the Humbroll brand .
After this i treated the exhaust with pigment powder . I took some pigment powder and terpntine and mixed this then i applied it the exhaust pipes .
The decals were cut on the edges so that there was no carrier film .
I soked then in water but i " glued " them to the tank with Matt varnish ( acryll ) . To gain the best result .
The only thing that can create errors are the tracks .
When ever you want to build this model DON'T attach the tracks together .
Why ?
The tracks are a bit to short for this model . When you put the tracks together there will be a lot of tension on the wheels ans this can be disastures for your model . The two front wheels will simply break off because the point where you must glue them is to small to gain a good hold .
So leave the tracks loose !!!!!!
The gear on the back of the tank are from the scrap box . Exept for the cardboard box witch came from the internet . ( You can find it at www.plusmodel.cz )
All together it was i very interesting model to build .
With the minimum of paint and extra parts , exept for the Rubio barrel and the etch parts , you can build a very nice tank . ( costs about 35 Euro ) with the extra parts ( aprrox 60 Euro )

The next model i'm working on right now is the Italian Semovente .
This model is a model from Zvezda .
At this time the model is completely put together . And is waiting to be sprayed .
This model is also , in my case , easy to build as long as you follow the building instructions farefully .
I made some alterations on it , as usual , on the barrel and on the interieur .
The rest i leave untouched.
This model proves that a cheap model .This Zvezda proves that you can build a very nice vehicle for a very low price . ( about 15 Euro )
( pictures of this model will be added within a few days )
The only thing that created some errors were the tracks ( Again )
The tracks for this model are very fragile. I was scared that they would break when i added them to the vehilce . To prevent that i placed some staples on the point whre the two track parts meet .
This would provail that the track shall break when i add them .

Till the next model

Eric

Eric--I like the looks of the Matilda. I can't wait to see the dio as I am always looking for ideas on how to do desert groundwork.

At AFV Interiors, they have interior shots of an Italian M13/40 medium tank. The Semovente in the Zvezda kit is based upon the chassis of this tanki (or rather the M14/41, but the interior would be very similar) so there should be a number of componenets inside that would not be changed.

Don't now if you're interested in aftermarket stuff at all, but Model Victoria makes a conversion kit for the Semovente (too late for that I guess) and some workable resin tracks (for $20 CDN, and considering the kit tracks, they're worth it), as well as a multitude of Italian figures in 1/35.

Nic,

Many thanks for the information about the Semovente's and the other one .
The hull of the Semovente is not glued to the main body yet so i can make some more alterations on the interior .
The m13/40 is also one of the tanks that is gonna take place on the Dester dio .
This is the next one to build .
Also thanks for the aftermarket adress !!!!!!!

Eric

If you are building the Zvezda M13/40, you might want to check out my review of it in the Armour Reviews section here on Armorama. I list a number of changes that must be made if you want a true M13/40. I also have a review of the Model Victoria M13/40 Conversion Kit in there. Have fun with the M13/40, I know I did
