Looks pretty good to me. Just shows what can be achieved with an old kit. Are those AM wheels, they look like they're white metal, or is this to represent wear? I take it the tracks are Fruils.

Thanks Jim,
I used Tamiya tape cut into about 1mm thick strips to get the hard edge of the camo patern. Then I filled in the rest with larger strips of Tamiya tape.

The wheels are the kit wheels. The rims are painted with Floquil Gun Metal. The tracks are Friuls.

That is a very nice looking kit. I have one that I built long ago (one of my very first Tamiya kits). I plan on rebuilding it to semi up to date standards. I only hope mine comes out almost as nicely as yours.

Yep. There's still a lot to do with painting, rusting, and the Friul's, oh theose Friul's are going to take a while to put together....

I agree with everyone else - quite a striking paint job and start to the weathering process. I'll be interested to see how it all comes together too in the end.
Very nice work so far!

Love the wash you did on the model. You highlighted the panels very well.
Any figures going onto this one?
Great Job!

Yes, the main paint job is completed. But there is some touch up required on the wheel hubs and drive sprocket.

Nice work done with an old kit, that camo scheme is outstanding, I love it. Are you gonna put this in a dio?

I wasn't thinking about a dio... maybe a vignette with just a couple of figures.

You've got a lot of water stain marks around the decals. Did that eventually dry out? Perhaps you should have glossed the vehicle before decalling. Very nice camo job - must have been very time-consuming to do all that masking.

Actually that is the gloss coat (Future). I only gloss coated the area where the decals would go. I have now flat coated the entire model and those spots have disappeared. Stay tuned for more progress pics in a few days.
BTW the masking took about six hours over a three day time span.

I've got the Nichimo version of this kit (virtually identical) and am putting better tracks on, mesh guards on the rediators etc. Considering the age of the kit, it looks like what it says on the box and is a good basis for detailing.

I really like that paint job - looks very believeable. I have some old Bandai's in 1/48 that I hope to build one day (at least one) and I will remember your work for inspiration.

Thanks for the kind words Konrad! My inspiration for this build was a very fine article in the April 2005 issue of Tamiya Modeling Magazine International on building the DML Jagdtigers by Phil Stutchinskas.
