Well Blazer here's what I do. First I'll wipe down the kit using Isopropyl rubbing alcohol, that takes off any of the oils I may have left from my fingers during the build. Then I'll warm my paint can, it helps make the paint flow better/smoother. Just add the can into a bowl of warm/hot water and shake every minute or so untill the can becomes warm, not hot! Spray with even strokes holding the can about 8-10 inches away. Don't try to cover the kit in just one shooting, throw on a light coats at first, then spray on the cover coat. Primer drys pretty fast so theres not much of a waiting period in between coats. Hope this helped you some

Perfect advice. One addition-start spraying before you pass over the model, and spray past it. Otherwise it can cause too much primer to build up in one spot.

Thanks for the tips about warming the can first. Never thought of that. I'll try that on my next one.

I would like to air-brush the track for my tamiya kit. Can the primer coat be used on the track
that comes with the model kit ?

I am a beginner too, and I was wondering how many coats of primer do you do?

I've always done just enough to coat the model, or one full, light coat. That allows me to see just how much I messed up, fix it and then allow the main coat to stick to the primer.

Also, is it recommended that you use the same brand primer as you used paints?

Going against the trend, I use Rust-o-Leum, Krylon and Colorplace spray cans for primer. It usually takes a couple of coats, but have had no problems and a nice result.

When priming, Do you spray the entire model? With tools, spares, and treads attached?
