Got a questions for tamiya paint....
- I have been using tamiya paint for a while and
I always thin it using the acrylic thinner (those
with white Cap)
Last week, the model shop guy convince me that
Tamiya laquer thinner (those with yellow cap) is better
for Tamiya acrylic paint (I was in a hurry and I bought it but
forgot to ask him why it better)
After that, when I thin the Tamiya acrylic paint using Tamiya
laquer thinner, the paint looks looks funny. I dare not spray
in on my model... Now I am wondering if I should throw this mixture
away .....
Any of you guys out there done some thing like this before ?
Any results ?

I would personally test it on a leftover plastic piece to see how it reacts to the plastic.
I know for a fact that if i placed lacquer thinner on my plastics, it will melt as i had purchased industrial type lacquer thinner, which melted my plastic pallette.
I personally would stick to what you did before which is to use acrylic thinner with acrylic paint.

Hi pionner,
basically i have no ideas that tamiya acrylics can be thinned with their lacquer thinner..and i also didn't know if tamiya made lacquer thinner. I pressume that i their enamel thinner.
My advise right now is, stay away from that thinner. USe the acrylics thinner to thin your acrylics...

Ummm, that doesn't sound right. Does the shop carry Tamiya's laquer paints? I've never seen them in the US, but that doesn't mean alot. Sounds like he ordered the wrong stuff and is trying anything to get rid of it. Acrylic thinner will make a mess of laquer paint if used, so I don't see how it works the other way around.
