Hi Guyz,
Here's a Q. for all the Shermaholics out there.
Very soon I'm starting on my Italeri M32 recovery vehicle, I've build it before, but then OOB.
This time I want to try to build a correct version, but the reference I've found so far are allmost all M4A3 variants with horizontal suspension.
I want to make the M4A1 version with vertical suspension.
Which wheels should I use? Spoked or pressed? Which hull is the best? The Italeri or the DML M4A1? Are there other tweeks that need to be done to make this oldie more accurate?
I know, a lot of questions...I hope to get the answers!
Greetz, TIA, John.

John, to answer one of your questions. I believe that the Dml M4A1 is the correct Hull to use as it has the smaller crew hatches.

agree with Peter,
DML M4A1 will be the choice. It comes with all you need. Pressed or sprocket wheels, three piece or casted transmission, different type of tracks. All will work. I have mostly seen solid wheels with rubber chevron tracks and casted transmission.
Happy modelling

The M-32B1 (which is what Italeri was striving for) can have the 1 piece transmission cover. And I recommend the DML M-4A1 hull,it is a good fit.
Any roadwheel will do,just figure how late in the war your vehicle is.
Also I think the standard setup was to mount the spare raodwheels on the tailarea, and the spare track blocks on the rear of the turret. (++) (++)

I will check and see if I have it saved electronically but I have the articles from the old AFV Interiors site. I have them in hard copy but will have to check the home puter for the files. I will get back to you and let you know. Has excellent turret interior shoots, also On one of the IDF modelling sites there is an article on building the M32. Cannot remember which site though.

Thanks for the replies, guyz...
Does this mean the Italeri kit hasn't got any other flaws then only the wrong hull?
Then this is going to be a walk in the park then...the M4A1 hull is already waiting for it's new destination...
Thanks again, John. :-)

John,
The Italeri M32 as molded is a version that was the least number produced and built. You want the early model hull as stated before with the smaller hatches, and early M3 type bogies, or horizontal return roller bogies like the DML M4A1 early kit. The fittings of course will have to be modified to adapt to the early Hull. But just check referances to be sure. The Hunnicutt book has a section on all the M32 types with pics. Todd
