Hi All,

This is my second model attempt after decade long of leavin' the hobby behind. Once again excuse my hideus photo taking.

Decide to build this puppy as re-entey into the hobby. Built it out stright along with PE and some wiring. Drill out the MG barrel, replace all the plastic latch, modest amount of weathering due to harsh africa condition...etc

Any comment are welcome and appreciated!!

Awfully dark for an Afrika Corps vehicle, isn't it? Mabye just the photograph? I myself am working on a 223 for the recce campaign, but I'm sticking to grey, to avoid making color mistakes.

hi,
I'm modelling a sd.kfz 222 too...is the new tamiya kit, with metal barrel and PE grille...
I didn't use a PE set, I'm scratchbuilding many details of this armor...
I will set my model in sicily, during the Husky operation...

your work sounds good, but the photos are too much dark...

which photographic sources you have used?
internet? books?

thanks for any information

Hi Jordan, yes the color is a bit dark for a reason. I painted the car i gray first becasue it is the original color when they ship it to Afrika. Then I spray only a thin coat of drak yellow mix with fine powder to simulate fading and sand texture in harsh desert weather condition.

Hi Onizuka, This is the old Tamiya kit with Eduard PE set. The barrel is plastic. I switched out all the pad locks and hinges on this vehicle and scratch build the grenade screen (IMHO the PE screen is too thin and no details). The markings are painted on with stencil. I use internet photos (actural historic photos) as reference.

Ah you like the pictures huh? Isn't it dark and fuzzy?
