Those tracks look really good. What is your secret? Keep up the good work.

I mix Brown Blue And BLack And paint it on then Drybrush it Then drybruch burn seana on the rusted parts of the track and finally Drybrush steel on the parts that contact the ground.

Hi! I'm just now getting into AFV modelling after building planes and spacecraft (if building the old Aurora 1/72 kits qualifies as a "first time"). I'm planning to start with the old reliable, the M4 Sherman. I have the recent DML kit of the M4A3 and plan to build it up into a diorama of the Battle of the Bulge, complete with winter scene and 'whitewash' camo scheme. Any comments, suggestions as to what gun, extra modifications, etc. in use during this time (Dec. 1944)? Thanks

Aber makes pe sets that will greatly improve the appearence also look at the Jordi Rubio Barrels. The aber setd however are hard to use ive herd but its probably worth a try.

Thanks for your suggestions. I'll try to get the PE parts via Great Models Webstore or a hobby shop I regularly visit. I'll be sure to post pictures of my completed model, as I also plan to enter it at the next armor modelers' convention in Aberdeen, Maryland next year. I'm sure I won't be the only one exhibiting a Sherman!

Currahee--I would look elsewhere for your PE than Great Models. They don't have a good track record and from posts by other Armorama members and my own experiences, it seems that they are a down right crappy company. Lifestyle is right in saying that the Aber PE is good (they have a set that is generic for all M4, M4A1, & M4A3 Sherman kits) and like he says it is a bit hard to work with, but only if you try to use the whole fret. Aber sets typically include the same stuff that every other PE manufacturer includes plus a whole lot more. This whole lot more is what is hard to work with because it is stuff like workable hinges and tiny little detail parts.

BTW, you most certainly won't be the only one with a Sherman at AMPS. Last year probably a fifth to a quarter of the models there were Shermans from all time periods, in all sorts of markings, and in all kinds of different dioramas. Good Luck! :-)

Grab a nice set of AFV Club tracks.They are alot easier to work with than Fruil and Modelkasten for a beginner.If you want the realism,look for these manufacturers and RHPM (I think I have thier letters correct).These sets are far better than band tracks for realism and DML tracks are notorious for ejector pin marks(I know because I did a set of thier T-80 tracks for the ez8 suspension.4 marks per link,I lost rack how many,also lost my mind,apparrently).Photo-etch is to modelling as sliced bread is to...uhmm...errr...BREAD. Seriously,the aftermarket producy range is a modellers paradise.Welcome to the rebel forces and lets put the dark side behind us.Sorry,I still dabble in the "winged evil",I just don't tell anyone.Huh.....what?.....I just what?...DOHT!!!!!!!!
