I'm sorry to keep brining this subject up, but I'm getting confused now and I hope that someone can help straigh me out, and show me the right place to go and find what I'm looking for here. I'm building a USMC M1A1HC Named Anrgy American it belonged to the 1st platoon, A Company, Regiment Combat Team 1 I would like to know what kind of rifles that would have with them to use outside of the tank. If someone would show me a web site or someplace to go, I would appritet it a ton.

Hello Cam,
During OIF , Marine Tankers carried the M9 pistol and the M16A2 (per loadout plan), each tank rated one, but I know some crews that had more. Crews now carry the M4.
Mike, chime in if your online.

I have also heard of some tankers getting ahold of the M16 Carbine version from my Cousin who is at Base ANACONDA. He is only a carpenter, but he is sure he has seen the guys walking around with the "short" M16's, although they could be Special Forces guys and not tankers.
The M4, is that also the carbine being used? I would assume so.
For general info, the "carbine" version of a wepaon is generally shorter, either for easier concealment or to take into tight places.

In my Bradley in the U.S Army the driver, gunner, and commander carried M9 pistols and we had m4 carbines in the passanger compartment. I would imagine the Marines had a similar S.O.P; Holsterd pistols with stowed carbines. Hope this helps.

per loadout plan even for the marines on an abrams is the m-4 , and outside of the tank its a mix of all types of m-16's and m-4's with some m203's attached to a few,

correction, there are 2 m-4's per abrams on the army and marines load plan, however since everyone is functioning as infantry with tank time kinda mixed, there were usually 4 on the tank but could have had an m16 or two in the mix, in iraq my loader was a saw gunner so we even had a saw on board at times, and 1 of our occasional loaders had an m-4 with a 203 so with a little modellers license you can really use anything, but for the record the abrams is supposed to have 2 m-4's and everyone on the crew has an m-9 pistol,
