Hi everyone!! I thought I would share some sneak peeks into the ground work on Tankygal1 (Mary) and mine on our Medics Campaign Entry. If you remember the Grass Wars review series this is the Busch grain Fields and reeds
http://dioramas.armorama.com/review/1063
and also the Silflor grasses
http://dioramas.armorama.com/review/924
Please feel free to let us know what you think. Now on to the next step covering it with snow :-)

Thanks for having a look. Cheers Mary & Kevin

Hi there guys.Nice groundwork!!Busy with my first dio in ages and this makes me jealous with envy!I like the way the leaves look, like they have just fallen out of the trees. You should make another without adding the snow..and send it to me!Which figures will you be adding to the dio?Shay :-)

Ola Kevin

Well here I see another perfect example of stunning groundwork can`t say much else. It would almost me a shame to cover all this up with snow. Wil the snow be a really thick layer or will it be a fine thin layer of snow. as I think that some morning frost will definately stunning on this piece of excellent groundwork.

Brilliant stuff mate. Looking for the next sneak preview

wow kevin thats great! i love that fallen tree in the middle of the field, brings a really nice compostion to the piece and makes the field look less bland. If the tree werent there you would need to do sometihng to make the grass more varied, but with the tree it looks great the way it is. Keep it up!

Hi you guys

Well what can i say iam looking out the window at almost the same sort of scene ..few more leaves on the trees ..lol... and you have got it perfect, the undulating ground, the leaves under the trees, leaves that look like the wind has blown them around and they are stuck in the grass i get a chill just looking at it like being home in Wales ...wipes tear from eye ..lol lol
Any one can stick some wood in a base but you have expertly chossen and placed them for maximum effect.
Out standing almost a pity to put bloody snow on it please dont put to much
Fantastic work
Cheers Chris

Another beauty in the making but then again if its got both yours and Mary's hand in its gotta to be great.

Your groundwork really leaves little room for comment Kevin but if I was forced into a corner and under the threat of death I'd have to ask about the fallen tree trunk that seems to be where the focus of attention is likely to be I reckon. The cut seems a bit too straight which would have to suggest its cut with a chainsaw coz if its going to be cut with an axe it would have to be a bit chipped at the sides and if it fell naturally then it would be jagged. The other super small nitpick would be the litter. Looking at the number of trees I'd lay it on a wee bit thicker.

You are kidding about covering the excellent piece of groundwork with snow, right?

Hey there Kevin (and Mary!)
Think the catalyst in the successs of this dio is composition, and that it could be a scene from anywhere, and is as true to life as any could imagine.
Could feature soldiers, picnickers, wildlife, Blair Witch project, anything, and it would complement them totally...
NO SNOW! This would affect much of the dio including covering all good detail and the way the dead fallen leaves are just sitting. and not yet a pulpy mush...(If you have to, maybe just a little
cheers

Kevin and Mary,

That is probably the best groundwork that I've ever seen. When I look at the close-ups I see a real life scene... What a wonderful display guys !!

I'm without words on this one .... my mouth can't produce anything more than......W O W

Very Nice indeed. An added note - the wispy tal grass spread throughout is a wonderful touch.

Kevin and Mary, Super job. Composition, are realism are great. Some small things to think about; NO SNOW, or maybe just a very light dusting. Also the tree stump looks funny to me. Even if cut with a saw, it looks to smooth and flat. Last thing is maybe to vari the color of some of the grass with a very light drybrush of some greenish yellow? Congrats on your progress so far, and keep the pics coming!

Kevin, Mary, that turned out great. I was looking at the third pic. down and my son came over and asked, whos back yard that was and what was the blue tarp for.

Have you guys tried some b&w and sepia - tone pics. ?
Excellent work - Cheyenne

Overall great effect, but to each their own I guess.
The taller grass clumps are the only element that aren't working for me.

I know they need to be there, but they all look like they are growing out of a single point where you had to 'plant' them.

Maybe they are catching my eye because I'm trying to solve the very same problem. But since I'm still struggling with this technique , so I don't have any great advice to offer.

Love the trees, leaves and general Heki grass cover. Very convincing, I'd vote for very little to no snow as well.
