Hi guy's,
I'm thinking about buying AFVclub M60/M48 Tracks Octal Type.
It say's workable but those this mean that there just individual links that have to be glued in place or that the they have movement when they are put together?
can anyone help me with this one??
TIA

I used a set of the AFV workable tracks on a Tamyia M1 MBT.. First time Ive used an aftermarket set of anything and to be honest, I was surprised at how well they worked.. Went together well with minimul clean up and stayed workable after weathering.. Id do another set... Have a look..
Not the best photo in the world but it shows the detail well...

So they stay workable.
Do they snap together?

MIne did.. After a heavy wash of the sand colour, a few shakes over an hour kept the workable... They dont snap together. The links are one piece and the link connectors(for lack of a better word) on the link sides slide over to corrosponding pins with a relatively tight fit.. No fear of them coming apart...Hope this helps.. If you want, I can grap a few pics of the individual parts and post them... LEt me know

I assembled the same set for my m1a1 and I have to say they are a very nice set. The end connectors slide over the track pins which are molded in place and in most cases no cement is required to hold them on. If need be, you can cement one side of the connector to one link and leave the other track link free to move about.

Thanks for the info guy's.
I know enough, I'm going to get the set.
If I have any questions I'll let you know.
Thanks again

Hallo Jan-Willem,
I used the HKCW 'workable' tracks with my Leopard, and although the are ' workable ' to some extend, they are not strong enough to take a lot of moving about. Workable should be seen as ' can be worked around the sprockets and given sag ' after the whole track has been constructed and painted, but I advise to glue them in place when in their final position. The end connectors are rather fragile, and will break if moved again and again.
As an aside, I would only use these if the tracks in the kit are really bad, or if you want (need) to show a lot of track sag between the return rollers. I feel that using them on my Italeri Leopard was wasted money and effort, as it is a lot of work to connstruct them, and Leo's don't have any sag, plus the top half of the tracks is hidden behind the skirts anyway. Putting the HKCW tracks next to the Italeri tracks, you would be hard pressed to spot the difference. This is a credit to the Italeri tracks, not a downer on the HKCW tracks which are very nice. Just overkill on a modern tank like the leo..
Cheers
Henk

Agree with Henk. The "Workable" part means they can be worked around the sprockets and return rollers. They are not meant to be put on and RC tank nor rolled around the floor making tank sounds. Also, on modern or even WWII US tanks, they are not really needed since the tracks are meant to be tight and not sag. The rubber band tracks in the kits (especially newer kits) represent the track quite well. They indi-link ones are nice on Soviet and other vehicles that have a dead track system with quite a bit of sag.
