I am going to be building the Tamiya Willys Jeep for an article this month I would like to build a recon version Here are my questions

#1 Would a recon Jeep have any markings at all For example
Serial numbers,stars and bumper codes?

#2 If I added the .30 cal MG,would I be able to put on that piece of angle iron that some Jeeps had on the front that was used to cut down wire that was placed on the road?

Any and all help greatly appreciated

Chad -

Yes, even "Recon" vehicles carry markings

As for the 30 with the wire cutter, why not the 30 is removeable the wire cutter may or may not be both can exist together. ha both on our "patrol" jeeps in Berlin.

Chad, definitly you can have it all; the markings of the jeep's units, the 30 cal and any number of field modifications the troops carried out on their particular jeeps, such as the wire cutter. I've attached a pic of one of my jeeps wirh both pieces of equipment. Good luck..looking forward to seeing it finished!

Thanks for the comment on the jeep. The wire cutter supports are .010 x .040 Evergreen Strip Styrene, which should be available at almost any hobby or craft shop.
