What would be the best way to dulling or darkening steel paint? I have tried flat black before But it didn't do the trick I ask because I used some Testors MM enamel steel to drybrush some metal portions of the tracks

However,it looks to bright Normally I use Humbrol #53 gunmetal It looks good on the model But doesn't show well in my photos

Dullcote. It will darken it up and take away the sheen. Leaving it looking like old, well used metal.

I usuaully don't use Dullcote That's because I use acrylic paints I will try the Testors flat acrylic and see how that works

Try rubbing on some HB graphite - or softer if you can find it in an art store. Then buff it with a paper cone.

Spray clear matt coat and then brush pastel chalk mixed with isoprophyl alcohol. Brush off the excess. That will definitely dull the color...

Hope this helps..

Cheers
