I have Dragons Panther A late type (kit no 6168) which i need some zimmerit and etched sets. I know Royal models do some but i can't seem to find a local supplier, so do Eduard or anyone else do any sets for this model. It seems i've been on the net for decades searching with no results .
Thanks Andy.
P.S were early Panthers and Tigers primed before the Dunkelgelb went on.

Hi Andy,

I have the DML Panther A lying around with ATAK zimmerit and Eduard PE set.
The Zimmerit is partly used, but the PE set is still complete...
Let me know if you're interested, we can make a deal on a sort of a swapp or so...

Depending on how stricken with AMS you are, Aber makes a super set for the DML Panthers.

Thanks for the fast replies guys. I also e/mailed Lee at http://www.military-precision.co.uk/ who was also extremely helpful (on a Sunday too) and i now have Eduard and Cavalier sets on the way.
John (DRAGONWAGON) what are the Atak zimmerit sets like too work with ?
John (Sticky), that Aber set is massive and i don't think i would use half of it ( also costs more than the kit ) :-) .
Thanks, not related to military-precision in any way, Andy

Hey Andy,

The ATAK zimm sets are nice to work with. They are made of very thin resin which is quite flexible. You can glue it using CA glue, but I've experienced that it is wise to pre-fit the zimm first and position it with the help of a bit white glue, if the position is OK then let some drops of CA glue run between it. Since the resin of the zimm is sooo thin, it will stich immediately to your model if you use CA glue right away!
I think this also goes for the Cavalier zimm, since this is laso made of resin sheet...

Hi Andy
Panthers and Tigers (most, if not all German Afv's) were primed using a "red lead" (red oxide) paint.
I'm sure I read somewhere that the zim was applied after the the tank had been primed.
Hope this helps
Andy

Andy,

I have used the ATAK set and would definitely recommend it. They come with pre-cut holes so it saves you the trouble of cutting holes to attach the equipment.

Also, for parts that are more difficult to get zimmerit on, ATAK gives a complete resin part to replace the original part, like the mantlet.
