Hello every one
I'm looking for detailed pictures of the M42 Duster and the M19 ( used in Korea ). The pictures that I'm after are of the turet interior and the guns and shields. I have tried a Google search but found no detailed pictures that I'm after.
Thank you
Ralph

The M19 was the Korean war equivalent of the Vietnam war M42. It was fitted with 2x40mm Bofors AA guns like the Duster but it was based on the M24 chassis..

Frenchy,

Many thanks for the information and photo

I don't know that there was the AA Tank on the M-24 chassis...

A link on the M19 GMC Gun Motor Carriage:

Francois

PS: The AA guns on both tanks are the same?

I think I have all the pictures from the old AFV Interiors site for the M42 at home. Assuming I am not violating any copy writes I can send those to you if that helps. Email me if you are interested and I will dig them up.

Can't help with the M19 I had never seen that one until now. Very cool.

Just a side note:
The M19 was originally used in WWII. It used a modified M24 chassis and mounted twin modified 40mm automatic gun M2.
It was standardized in June of 1944 to replace the GMC M15A1.

It was carried over into Korea where it underwent more modifications, taking on the M41 series chassis than being designated the M42 which first entered service in 1952.

I have a few pics which I can post a little later in the day. brb...

Just a couple of small date corrections. While type standardized in June 1944, the first M19's weren't produced until April 1945 and didn't see combat in WW II. The M42 wasn't type standardized until Oct. 1953. The initial T141 prototypes were produced in 1951/52.

I've posted a few pics of M19 and M42 turret interiors in my gallery: M19 and M42 turrets

I think it may have to do something with the US Army and US Navy using old wrecks to build artificial reefs (that's why the M42 on the picture has no engine).
Fishes are not very fussy about their "homes".
