Hey

Looks good to me!

About the weathering: for my KT I used heavy washes with dark brown oil paint. The rain marks are also done with this dark oil paint. I also applied paint chips and mud.....

I really like both tanks if i may say so.

Which technique did you guys use to do the camo? Freehand or sticking blue tac to form the camo contours?

Frank, I really like the ambush camo scheme. Are you doing the dio with the para?

Do you guys know if this "bulge tiger" should be zimmed or not?

Keep up the great work!!

thanks for stealing the fame Martin :-) i msut say i love you tiger also so i cant blame jeremy lol.

For my part i used free had camo with my badger 150 and hte medium nozzle thats broken... i msut say im suprised it turned out good lol then the dots were applied with a regualr small paintbrush.

Benjamin, according to dml, it shouldnt be zimmered, althought i dont know why, but il stick to it without hte zimmerit lol to late now.And as for hte troops il probly use a few and leave the others for another project, i want to get the crew of the tiger involved thats why i asked for tank crew set

Thanks for hte reply my friends,

You always had the fame Francois. Martinn was just the side show bob. :-)

Would love to see your work complimented by the weathering process. Do share more photos once they are available.

Not to ruin anything, but I think the camo should be hard edged unless you plan to model the 222 ( i'm not sure but I think only the s.pz.abt 509 have soft edge camo???) . The plastic is showing in the coupola periscope. Overall, it looks very good. BTW, don't forget the wire from the headlight.

Keep us posted..

Cheers

Arvin, according to dml's instructions, this is hte camo for the "spzabt 501". maybe your right about hte 222, thats hte camo it schows for it, but also the camo for the 1st,2nd, 3rd kompanie.
Dont worry about hte plastic showing, il get that fixed

one questin, were to the decals go for it im not to clear on there instructions.

Your KT looks great! I'm in the middle of building this model as well.
I'd like to paint mine in the same "ambush" scheme, so can you please tell me – what colors did you use (numbers and company please)? And is this an exact scheme or just by your imagination?

Great job indeed!

Hi Ori

The great job compliment should go to Francois because he built the KT and I just gave him some additional inputs.

Maybe just to answer some of you questions while waiting for Francois reply, the common Tamiya paint colors used are dark yellow, red brown and dark green or olive green. The spots or ambush colors are the same set of color. In my opinion, its very hard to copy the exact scheme or camo pattern unless you have a complete documentation of the tank you want to model (top view, front, side, rear, etc.).

I guess only Francois can answer you question about the scheme of his KT. BTW,I've already built the same kit as Francois, but its the Tamiya Ardennes KT and for posterity reasons here is the pic...

BTW, I also probably made the mistake of using a soft edge camo because this was just my second kit during that time -- I've now learded from my mistakes
:-)

Hope this helps

Arvin you msut be an artist but to be more precise i used a mixture of khaki and dark yellow from tamiya, red brown, and khaki green lol... slight vartiation :-)

Seems liek you did do the same mistake lol, but i blame mine on dml, i jsut tried to imitate there camo patern hoping it was the right one

btw, arvin, were did you get the crew for the tank?

Thanks for hte compliment ori, altought it was said to the wrong persone Graeme, i gave it a little wash, il be weathering it with some mud and snow, and put it on a "springish" base with the kit figures

new pics will arive soon.

Hi Francois,

The figures already came with the Tamiya Ardennes front kit. The kit is OK as well as the figs...unfortunately only the motorcycle riding fig is left, the others I already used in other dios :-) . The tree as well is now in autumn mode...I'll just build one again. The dio was never built... :-) .

Below is an KT instruction sheet from Echelon Fine Details (they sell decals) as additional info regarding the tactical number placement -- I'm not sure if this is accurate...might be useful to you

Hi Arvin,

Thanks for the color chip. Top left corner of the TK 201, does that one have zimmerit or not?

Just out of curiosity guys I'm curious about the command tank that's on the bottom left corner on that painting chart.. it's numbered 008... now I'm doing a command tank for my Tiger I, but I don't want to do wittman's tank, what I need to know is, were most if not all command tanks numbered 008 or 007 or whatever? just used the different numbering colours and patterns for the specific unit?

On German Tanks

Zero's denote HQ elements. So if I the two zeros as in, 008, would have been a Company Commander IIRC.

Hi Ercan,

I think those kits with mud on the fenders is either mine or Martin's. I think Francois has yet to finish his kit and post new pics, w/c BTW is what we are waiting for...

Just to get into the chat and play devils advocate here a bit, IMOO modeling is a hobby, I know my models are not going into any war time museum. If the finished model looks good and represents what it is and should be I do not get caught up on accurate details like soft edge/hard edge etc. It is a model to build and have fun and be proud of. Then again everyone has their own opinions and some get caught up on research and being 100% accurate. Each to their own I say.

KT looks great, nice job, nice paint job. Be proud of it and take all comments with a grain of salt.
