DML's kit # 6283 Limited edition M4A3E8 Sherman "Major Albin F. Irzyk".
Does anyone here have this kit? I just ordered it and am looking for other opinions on it while it is en-route. I have already read Cookie Sewell's review.

Ken,

I think you are asking questions about the suspension. What I have done is ordered AFV clubs HVSS suspension (And crossing fingers) or get the Tasca VVSS to convert it back to a M4A3. Hope this helps.

Chad (generalzod) picked one up for me at DragonExpo. I have yet to crack plastic though. What do you want to know about the kit? I have both the original Dragon Korean War M4A3E8 and WW2 M4A3 (76) HVSS to compare.

Douglas, was looking for more info than just the suspension. BTW, welcome aboard!

Rob, I don't want you to cut it open, unless you are planning on it already.

I was interested in knowing what PE it includes and if it is just a mixing of their two other kits from the M4A2 and M4A3.

TIA

Ken
The PE parts are for the headlight, taillight guards, the periscope guards, and some PE for the tow cable holders It has a metal barrel Two brass 76mm rounds

Basically it has the old E8 suspesion on the new M4A3 hull Knowbody is sure if the T80 tracks that come with the kit are correct for his tank

Usually the E8's had the T66 tracks during W.W.2 Also. The stars and serial number decals are already green However they are of a different shade than OD

Hope that helps

Thanks Chad. That's what I was looking for.

What is with the decals? They are already a shade of OD?

Glad to help Ken The stars and serial numbers are more of a medium green shade I would drybrush some OD on them myself

Also. For some reason the instructions tell you not to put on those hull side extenders I have yet to see an E8 that didn't have them Do you have the link to Cookie Sewell's review?

Strange why they have the decals painted or shaded.

Yes, I do have Cookie's link. I think - I do not have the instructions yet, what they mean is not to put the side skirts on. (?)

Exactly I have never seen an M4A3E8 with them off But one thing I have learned is "never say never on a Sherman tank"

I am working on the kit now also. I also had questioned the fender issue but never got a response. I have searched and can't find anything on the fenders not being added or deleted.

I too, have never seen an E8 without fenders, but that might just mean I have never seen the right right
photo!

Still not sure how to proceed with the fender issue, but I think I am going to use T66 tracks.

I think you guys are mistaking the side-skirts for the fenders. I too have never seen an E8 w/o the fenders, but have seen plenty w/o the skirts.

The fenders are the pieces the are mounted horizontally over the tracks at the bottom edge of the hull sides, while the skirts are connected to the fenders vertically and cover the upper return rollers.

To make sure we are all on the same page, it is the skirts on the side with the little supports attached to the hull sides that I am referring to. The instructions do not mention there use in the kit, and all box art shows the tank without the side skirts.

I was thinking there was more to do than just remove the side skirts. Aren't the front fenders wider on an E8? If units were removing the side skirts, they must have replaced the wider front fenders with standard width ones (assuming the E8's were wider) to end up with what we are supposed to build from the kit.

Basically I was curious if this is correct for the "Irzyk" tank, or should we be adding the side skirts. So far, I haven't been able to get any info on what this tank really looked like in late '44.

Yes I am wondering if maybe some very early E8's didn't have them on This will be fun trying to find out :-)

Sort of off topic but not... Is the PE set for this the same as prev. releases? Find that the brushguards are tooooo flimsy...

Brad, they appear to be the same ones that I received in the Battle of the Bulge Sherman.
