I am also intrested in building this kit. I understand that there are very few of these vehicles. They can be remotely controlled from an M113. That would make an great diorama. What i don't know is how are they managed on the battlefield , how do they decide where to use them and how are they transported to where they are needed. The job of an engineers unit, who would that be.

There are only a few M1 Panther II's in use. I believe they have only been fielded to the 130 Engineer BDE in Germany. They are driven around the battlefield and only remotely controlled when it is actually clearing the minefield. The control is briefcase sized, and can be done from anywhere, it is not hard wired into an M113 or any other vehicle. I don't have any pics, but I did see one in Iraq on April 3, '03, north of Karbala as we (3ID) pushed toward Baghdad. Unfortunately, I was too bust liberating a country to take any pics of it. It had a mine plow, as opposed to the roller on it. I believe it was the exact vehicle that is depicted in the Trumpeter kit, 130 EN BDE, 54 EN BN out of Germany.
Here is mine, Trumpeter kit. (Sorry, poor pics, but you get the idea.)

I presume that they had their Nato colours and not IOF sand finish.

Sorry, it had the plow, not the roller. Got distracted while typing and there you have it.

Actually, it was in overall medium green, not 3-tone NATO camo. I have only seen them in medium green, none in NATO camo or desert sand.

Not sure what you mean here. If you mean the roller and plow, Dragon's only comes with the plow. Trumpeter's comes with both plow and roller.

Yes, all I have seen is green as well, as I stated above.

Hi,
The Panther2 are all based in Germany. Some are working in Kosovo, other in Irak.
They are all forest green painted.
The dragon kit have only the roller system.
Here one pics from my Dragon M1 panther2

Actually the Dragon kit comes with the roller not the plow.

From a previous thread :
You should find useful informations, and pics as well, in Concord's " Assault : Journal of Armored and Heliborne Warfare" vol.8. It includes one well illustrated article about the 54th Engineer Battallion which has received the first two Panther 2 in June 2002 and another about the Panther 2 itself. Both articles are written by Ralph Zwilling.
Here's a sample (from Concord Publications website) :
