Just wanting to confirm that the standard issue for back packs, sleeping bag etc for US soldiers tend to come in sort of a Nato Green type colour is this correct? Would it be the same colour regardless whether the deployment was in a desert environment or a forestation type deployment?
The reason im asking is that if i were to follow the instructions that came with the Tamiya M113A2, it mentioned that the sleeping bags are in a medium greyish type colour and i dont quite believe that. Referring back to all the reference photos ive been given, they all show up as Nato Green.
Would appreciate it if any of you could confirm this little detail for me.
Cheers!

Tamiya's Modern Gear painting directions are wrong. Most issue gear comes in a dark green, it fades to medium green, which is the green in NATO camo. The sleeping bags in the set should actually be black. They are a new sleeping bag system that stuffs into a black compression bag. The sleeping mats, small rolls, should be medium green as well. Butt packs are woodland camo. Duffel bag should be overall medium green, including straps. The box top is a pretty good guide, with the above exceptions.

It would depend upon the issuing unit. I don't expect to be ferried around in a 113 any time soon, so my equipment may differ slightly, but here's what our stuff looks like:
SPEAR System-Woodland Cammo
MOLLE (Languishing in garage)-Woodland Cammo
Lowe Ruck-Black
Black Hawk equipment-Most black, some tan
Sleeping Back-Completely black stuff sack, containing:
One black bag
One green bag
One woodland cammo bivvy sack
These can be combined depending upon the temperature.
ALICE Pack-green when issued, often spray painted with black or sand disruptive pattern. It can also be covered with additional stowage pouches, tan or green, from Tactical Tailor.
We've also got DCU pattern covers for the ALICE scavenged from other sources.
Body Armor-Still woodland pattern
Camel Back-DCU pattern, black, or green (three issued)
New elbow and knee pads-a sickly shade of brown
New rucksack container system (for airborne ops)-Woodland cammo

Thanks for clearing that up guys. I suspected as much they were wrong. A couple more questions though.
Did the duffel straps ever come in black or were they always medium green?
Helmets worn by the driver and gunner in OIF, were those green in colour or did soldiers mainly wear the sand coloured helmets?
Im somewhat envious that you guys get so much gear! I only ever got the standard medium green packs, no sleeping bag, no sleeping mat and we sure as heck dont get any body armor or flak jacket.
What about the fold out stretcher? Im sure they arent grey as depicted in the instructions. Any clues what colour those were?
Thanks once again guys....much appreciated for the clarification.

The current litter aka Raven Litter is a black mesh to make it easier to decon, if I'm not mistaken the mesh is a polypropylene material. The poles are a medium green. The folding litters are the same.

Duffel bags have always ben overall green, including straps.
Tanker helmets are issued in dark green. They get chipped easily and often repainted. They could be either dark green, sand or black for the shell. The inner helmet is a OD green cloth and earpieces are black.
The "stretchers" in the set are cots. The frame (square part) is unpainted aluminum and the cloth part is also medium green.

Are there any sites that have pictures of all these?
