Hi all,

I've just finished (at last... ) the Tamiya M48A3. I started building this before I found Armorama ( Hence the at last :-) ) and subsequently didn't know, nor have rectified the inaccuracies of the suspension. To hide this fact I was thinking of putting it in a small " dug out" dio, with a small part of a perimiter fence or such.
My questions are:

Were M48A3's used in such dug-outs or sandbag embrasures?
If yes, would they be driven or reversed into position?

Many thanks in advance for your help.

Cheers

Yes, they were used in prepared fighting postions, but would not be backed into position. The gun over the back deck would prevent the tank from fully depressing the main gun and expose the weak point (engine grill) to the direction of the enemy.

Thanks Rob, I knew I could count on you to not only tell me how, but also explain why.

Cheers

Just to piggy back on what Rob stated, a tanks best protection, other than the maingun, is it's frontal armor. Think of it as an extremely large claymore with the words "Front Towards Enemy" emlazoned on the front slope Have fun. "Q" :-)
