My AFV Tiger 1 late. S.PzAbtlng 505 eastern front. An enjoyable build, except for that turret! Fruillisimo track and the rest is OOB. Zimmerit was applied with a 15W soldering iron per the Francois Verlinden method. Markings are Archer fine transfers. All comments appreciated.

My favourite PzAbtlng, Tiger from S.PzAbtlng 505 (especially the charging knight). Your model look good but not so sure zimmerit was applied on the horizontal plate in front of the driver and bow machine gun. I think most Tigers only have zimmerit on the vertical armoured plate. Correct me if I'm wrong.

Well, some did, some did not. Take a look at "tigers in Combat", there is some photo evidence that some had zimmerit on the plate. (open to interpretation). If you look at both the instructions of the AFV kit, and the box art, there is zim on the plate, the Dragon instructions (late) don't even address zimmerit application and the box art shows a naked plate. So, in the interest of IPMS and a possible competition for this model, I followed the instructions.

Hi, An excellent job here. I really like your camo effects. I just started on the AFV Club late yesterday, as I got in a set of Zimmerit from Cavalier--I'll admit I'm lazy.

I see that they also have a piece of resin Zimmerit that goes on the top of the front plate with their set. I just got the 'Tigers in Combat' book recently and will look this up. Personally I think it looks pretty good in this area and will most likely add it here myself just for that 'something different' look it gives the model.

Those Fruil tracks sure do put the 'icing on the cake' on any model. Great work!

Take care, Sgirty

HI, Right on the nose there Mark. One of my favorite American frontier heros of this area. Not that I don't regard others of this time period--Simon Kenton, Danel Boone, and others of this caliber of frontiersman as great men, each in their own right, but have just sided with the Native Americans, as I feel they have really gotten the raw deal from our society down through time.

Luckily. despite all that we have done and continue to try to do to them, they will still be here long after the likes of us are long gone.

Take care, Sgirty

Hi, Went ahead and added the resin Zimmerit piece to the front top of my AFV Club Tiger and am well pleased with how it looks. Glad I saw it on yours. It adds a certain 'something' to it. Maybe a continuation of the Zim. on the lower front end and the Zim on the front where the mg. and driver's station is.

Understand Greathouse and his kind very well. I added my e-mail address to the site if you want to step back into hisory some.

Thanks and take care, Sgirty

Hi, yes, Mike, both Cavalier and I do believe Atak make kits for it now. I picked my Cavalier stuff up from Great Models for I think $20. Nice stuff too.

Good luck and take care, Sgirty

Looks like the Bucks rule this thread

I'm partial to Simon Kenton myself, you know the gauntlet and all......

Thanks for the comments.....My DML late is coming soon, what a kit...I'm finishing it up now.

Go Bucks!
