I'm very familiar with the American gypsy look, but I don't see many German vehicles covered in gear. Am I missing something or lookin gin the wrong places?

Hello,

I hope that I will be corrected if I am mistaken by what I am saying.

I think you'd find that alot depends on the time period which you are looking at.

Basically from late 1943 Germany was fighting defensivily; the supplies (when they could get them) were available to them on their territory.

Where as the allies were attacking (and advancing fast) outstripping their supply train so had to carry as much with them as they could.

If you look at German armor, especially in North africa and russia they are carrying large amounts of stowage.

I think also the german mentallity and strategy differed from the allies slightly in their Blitzkrieg theory of 'combined arms' with their AFV's been closely supported by their supplies so as not to inhibit the AFV fighting ability.

Hope thats of help.

We mostly see pics of Pz. lll's, and lV's, and Stugs with the engine decks piled high with racks and boxes holding all kinds of stowage, including extra ammo, fuel, rations, and scrounged stuff, generally up until 1943.
