Looking good so far, I really like the worn looks of it, but if you are building a OIF vehicle I think you got the wrong radio. To my knowledge the old VHF radios where used up until -95, and then changed to the digital Sincaars(?) radio which looks very different from the one you have installed. Anyway, I'm sure some of the US guys around here can give you the right info.

Looking pretty good. The radio is wrong though, should be a SINCGARS. Pro Art has a nice SINCGARS set. Looks like your front turnsignal lights are red as well, they should be amber. Front side reflectors and indicator lights should be amber as well, with rear lights, rear side reflectors, and rear side indicators red.

Is it common for the USMC to hang their backpacks on the front of the vehicle?
Hey Gino, does the Tamiya OIF version come with it?

It is quite common to see HMMWVs with the bags on front. Most Light Infantry (82nd ABN, 101st ABN) do it often, USMC as well. It gives you more room in the interior for personnel and ammo.

Nope, the above kit is the Tamiya M1025. No HMMWV model on the market comes with a SINCGARS radio.

One quick note about hanging rucks on the trucks. I was with the 82nd in Fallujah, nad when we ran missions from our FOB (foward operating base), the only things we had were ammo, 1 case MREs, ammo, 2 cases of water or 2 cans, ammo, medical kit, ammo, and usually an assault pack per man. If we were relocating to another area, 1 ruck per crew member, 1 cot per crew member, one duffel bag per, all the water and food we could find, and of course ammo.
I'm not sure what kind of dio you are going for, but the Marines that relieved us had 5 man crews in their HMMWV gun trucks: driver, truck commander, rifleman in one of the back seats, gunner up top, and an additional rifleman to watch the gunners back; he rode up top with the gunner seate4d behind him.
