Hi all,
Heres my latest dio. It depicts a Sherman moving through a small town past a GMC with MP's interrogating a caputred German.
The cobblestones are from Kancali and the building and wall a scratchbuilt from Cork. The figures still need alot of painting to be done on them and so does the shed.
I would really appreciate any suggestions that could add to the overall feel. Just little details would be great!

I suppose i'm not the expert in this but i could suggest you putting some debris near the wall some equiment(barrels crates) near the truck maybe a small tree behind the shed would be great!Well i can't imagine anything else but your dio looks very nice allready!
some posters on the wall also may look nice!!
Good luck!!

Andy..you have gotten off to a very good start there. I really like the composition. The groundwork where the truck is looks great...as does the cobblestone street...I cant wait to see it when you have completed all the final touch ups.

Greetings Young Kiwi Jedi

Andy--you've been busy! Good concept here and the layout looks balanced as you have it now.

Some no cost ideas could include a placing a simple wood power pole (with crossarm) on the corner edge of the dio near the rear end of the Sherman.

Roof details always look good so you could take some plastic tubing and place short pieces of them on the shed roof as pipe vents.

This might be too late, but a window or door opening in the shed would add some interest to the structure.

Weeds grow everywhere, so you could consider tucking some small green foliage all along the base of the brick wall.

An old pile of well weather lumber could be stacked along the inside of the brick wall near the deuce, or, your could place a small pile of lumber/debris on the corner near the back end of the deuce (behind the interagator). This would balance out the power pole placed on the opposite corner.

Just some thoughts for you Lord Kiwi, --- good to see you attempting another dio.

The "Force" is strong in this one.

Thanks for the comments everyone.
George, I like the barrel/crate Idea I might do up some Ration and medical boxes and place them by the rear truck wheels.

Steve, I was toying with the idea of a power pole and wasn't really to sure on how to do one but the cross arm will help. I might still be able to add a door to the rear of the shed and some pipes on the roof.

I also thought about some things to put on the roof. Like leaves and bits of lumber. what does everyone think?

I think debris in the corrugated roof would be great. Just imaging any corners catching stuff and debris

Nice job so far, I agree with everything said to this point. A few things I would offer and consider.
The load it the truck shouldn't contain food and fuel (I can't tell what is there now, just consider it in final placement). I would make sure you have muddy tracks along the road and in and out of the 'entry point' .
I would also put a bit of putty in the sidewalk seams to even out the depth of the seams.
In final positioning I would move the sherm. about 1.5" forward, that will balance the road and fill in a bit of the open sapce in the fornt.

Nice progress keep us posted

Hi, Andrew. The only thing I can add is a comment about the tire tracks in the mud. I don't know if this is a distortion in the pix, but in the overhead shots the distance between tracks seems to reduce to squeeze between the wall and the edge of the dio. Also, I'm not sure whether a truck of that length could make such a tight turn. Is it too late to sort out?

I am also by no means an expert just one thing to consider, the rear wheels always take a different path to the front so you should have two sets of tracks crossing each other ( if that makes sense ) just something to think about.

Andy I only have one critique for you not covered by the others. I suggest you make pot holes along the cobble stones where the truck tracks turn into the dirt. Anytime you leave a solid road surface and switch to a soft surface(when it gets any type of use) you get pot holes. also where the vehicles would turn back onto the cobble there will be a dirt or mud track apparent on the cobble stones. Other than that it is great so far. Looking forward to seeing the details bring it to life. Cheers Kevin

Thanks Guys
Scott, Thanks for the heads up on the Truck Cargo I never really thought about that (you are correct there is fuel and food in there now). I will be doing the tire tracks on the road as part of my final weathering.

David, I noticed the tire tracks after the groundwork had dried (whoops!) I was thinking about the truck making such a tight turn too, I decided that he had come from somewhere else.

Kevin, thats a good suggestion on the pot holes, I will scrap some out.
