Ola Guys and gals

Some of you will probably remember a post from me where I posted a single picture of a dio that should be entered in the O2W campaign... Of course failing fantastically to finish it for the deadline I`m not abandoning the project as it is too cool (I find that anyway) For the people that do not know what I`m talking about here is the link to my project:
O2W Fausts Entry part deux.
My mom and dad returned from Stockholm yesterday and they had the cam with them so today I was finally able to make some pics of my last progress. Not much is to be seen as I`m a truely slow builder. but I want to show it anyway
here are some pics
First a picture whihc is practically the same as the picture before but the with the faces painted

An overview of the diorama itself.

Now the base is very light but basically it is a road which lays a bit deeper then the roadsides. The Fence is there only temporarily as it will later be replaced by a styrene one. The telephone pole will eventually also have military roadsigns added to it. More about that later

And here I have a closeup of the Motordriver that I finished today. More pics of this bloke will be added in the figure forum as it is my entry for the FOTM this month

Again of course looking forward to your feedback

Lucky

Awesome! Very cool scene, and great composition. Those motorcycles, are they Italeri? And who are the figures from?

Ola Guys

Thanks for your replies.

@ Lucky
The Motorcycles are all From Tamiya... wish I had taken the Italeri cycles as they are truely miles ahead of the Tamiya bikes. Hence all the Evergreen and copperwire added to it to make it accurate.
The figures are all from legend except for the officer in the back as he is a verlinden figure. The detail of these figures is truely brilliant and one of the best figures I had to date. It is a charm to paint them.

@ Jeremy
Thanks for the compliment it really means a lot to me. And yes I found a very neat map in my collection of rubbish I keep around. I won`t add it untill I have painted that guy... he will probably be the next.

@ Alan
Thanks for the comment. more will follow very soon.........I hope

@ Jeroen
I don`t know exactly if I`m the right person to teach you this I`m basically " maar wat aan het aanklooien" (Something that can`t be translated) The ways I paint my figures will probably scare the hell out of the great figure painters as I don`t follow any rule. Well According to Tamiya Driving a BMW or a Zundapp is soooo fun you never want to stop... therefor they haven`t added Brakes. Brilliant step. More will follow. I have 4 more figures to screw up.

@ Kevin
Thanks for the comment
The Figures as Stated above are all legend except for the officer... not super expensive and some brilliant details involved in them. They really make a nice scene.

Again thanks for the replies and more feedback is always welcome.

Oh maar natuurlijk kan dat wel vertaald worden Robert, in English this is called " mucking about ". I should know as that is exactly how I do my painting.. :-) :-) :-) :-) .

Like the set up of your dio, and those figures are indeed great.

Ola Henk

You are absolutely right. but I still think the English translation comes not even near the rough Dutch "Charming" way I wrote it... It sounds much neater though.
Henk Thanks for the comments and I promise before the end of the year (in my speed that is a very hard promise :-) :-) :-) :-) :-) ) show some more progress

Nice job, honestly, it's what I have come to expect from you. Very solid and I can't really say anything that I would necessarily change.
I can offer a tweak on the motorcycles. You can add spark plug wires to the bikes. They run from the middle center of the cyclender heads to the side of the engine body. If you want more detail let me know....

Ola Guys

Thanks again for the replies they are really appreciated.

@ Danny
Thanks for the feathers mate :-) :-) :-) Really appreciated.

@ Scott
You too thanks for the comments. About the Sparkplugs. I indeed have to do them still on this bike. Both the BMW with sidecar have them and the Zundapp in the background have them too. This one will get them too and the other BMW bike still needs to get the whole update.

@ Simon
Indeed it is true that you don`t often see the figures actually sitting on the bikes itself. And that is why I loved these figures so much.

Again any feedback is welcome... I will make that more updates are going to follow.

Waaaay too much honour here. Although I`m satisfied with the results I manage to achieve I definately know that there is still a lot to improve on. And even more to learn. Therefor I experiment. And therefor a lot of things go wrong and end up in the bin. But that is the darkside of Experimenting.

@ Jim
It is just an easy way to spice up the Tamiya bikes. I`m not doing any crazy stuff as Re-spoking the wheels of the vehicle. But only things like cables and some other missing stuff is recreated. This will end up with a rather more interesting vehicle then that it comes OOTB

Hi there Robert!
Nice job there with the hall set!
You said something that picked my interest!!
The italeri bike are better???
Cause i have one with the side seat and 2 figures and my 1st idea was to make a dio with it next to a well or some building ruin!!!
What you think?
Any more ideas?
Keep up the good job!!

Ola Guys

@ George
Definately the Italeri Bikes are way better then the Tamiya Motors. All the details are just a tad sharper and the brakes are molded onto the steer. You still have to add the cables but that is just a minor thing to do.
As for ideas to add a Bike into the scene that can virtually be anything. The motors of the Wehrmacht were litterally used everywhere from Africa to Russia and with everything. And for many many roles. Police, Motorized infantry, Messengers, Field Post etc. etc. the possibilities are unlimited. And you can add them to any diorama almost next to any german vehicle that saw action in WW2. So yeah try to look up pics of motorbikes during WW2 to get an idea of how much things you can do with them. If you can`t find a thing then PM me I have a book full of Pics of Motorcycles during WW2.

@ Richard

And that is where it exactly went wrong with the on 2 Wheels campaign.
