How would one landscape a diorama base set in the bleak future world of The Terminator?

Im guessing no green at all..'cuz all the plant life would be dead because of the radiation. Im also guessing crushed plaster everywhere and everything painted grey and black.

Any of you modelling gods have any Ideas you'd care to share?

Thank you.

I think you hit it right on the head... Lots of rubble with lots of greys and blacks.. maybe some burnt out cars... What scale are you looking at?

Ciao VenomOrca,
Check out the movie, "Terminator." It has some excellent scenes of the future, including a TV with a fire in it.

1/35th scale...54mm

Recently picked up the Exo warriors from Federation Models.com, and Ive always wanted to try my hand at a vignette from this time frame. But now i need to find just the right figures for the Tech Com side...something that catches my eye and says run with it.

I wish i knew how to scratchbuild..well.

The vignette could use some tanks or sentry droids or something.

..Just brainstorming here.

I did a diorama once LOOONG time ago (actually, I plan to chuck this diorama). I used Panzer Gray (one of the darkest grays in a spraycan) and lots of crushed styrofoam to represent crumbled walls and rubble (craft stores sell styrofoam).

I then used thin copper wires, bent into various angles, to represent rebars and stuck them into the edges of the crushed styrofoam walls. You can weld or superglue the wires together to create a mesh of rebars. According the the movie, most wood burnt away, leaving concrete, steel, and rebar....everything else is carbonized.

As for skulls, I don't know of any in 1/35, but since it's near Halloween, you can look in partystores for some really small skulls...candy maybe?

Here is my build I did in the early 1990s.

Your definetly gonna need lots of rubble, and twisted metal. Maybe a few twisted I-beams made from styrene. Also maybe even a burned out car or truck.
