What is the proper turret for an early hulled M4A3 with small hatches? Low bustle, high bustle, loader's hatch type?

Rob,
A low bustle type would be correct. Split hatch cupola with no loader's hatch during wartime although some may have had them retrofitted during remanufacturing.
Post-war rebuilds would have the commander's cupola with vision blocks and some would have an oval loader's hatch retrofitted. Here's some pics of one on display that Roy Chow sent me: M4A3(75)D

Thanks, I have the old MP models early M4/M4A3 hull and was wondering what to do with it. Bashing it with an old Tamiya M4A3 doesn't look like the solution.

Formations has a nice early turret. Tamiya's m34A1 manlet fits it. Should work great for your early A3 project.
