Andy..this is really starting to shape up. The additions you have made really makes a diffrence in the overall look and feel. the added debris to the top of the shed looks great..maybe a little more weathering..but still looks great...cant wait to see your next update. (++)

Thanks Dave and Mary,
Mary I will add a bit of pastel and maybe a darker wash to the wood planks.

Andy that is looking good. My suggestion though would be to turn the two vehicles around.

The truck is more likely to have backed in towards the shed and be unloaded there. Why you ask? because if I had to get out in a hurry I would not block my vehicle in with a stone wall and a shed with the possibility of unloaded stores being behind me.

Other then that great work. The GMC looks nice.

cheers
Cliff

Great work so far Andy. The sherman looks like the Academy version from the Battle of the Bulge?

Hi Andy
Its comming together great lot better since you added the debri on the roof of the shed i think giving the wood planks a wash of colour to tie them in would be good perhaps add some green in the wash and burnt umber to give the idea that they have been up there a while.
You could put some bits of paper on the ground at the feet of the german to surggest that they have been going through his pockets during his interrogation just a thought .
Looking forward to seeing the end result.
Cheers Chris

Wow, I like the layout a lot, perhaps some litter in the streets, for a bit of extra detail.

Good work Andrew!
It's Taking Shape really nice!!
As for the grass you want to put at the bottom of the shed it's a great idea and i would add a little more to the hall dio around the road and the around the wall with the technique mentioned here in armorama!
Cutting the threads from a paint brush and glue them down there using some white PVA glue!!
Chck it out!!
Keep up and good luck!

Andy -

This is really coming along outstandingly. The whole feel and composition is well thought out and comes across very effectively. I'm in agreement with the GMC position as "MrRoo" pointed out. There are some other great suggestions out there, and if I could add just a couple little things? Maybe have some leaves randomly scattered on road and over by pole. And a broken "insulator" and/or a dangling wire from pole? All very minor but when something is this good that's all it needs if anything at all. Keep us posted on this beauty,

Andy, you wanted a suggestion on doing weeds. Go to a local craft store and look for dried plants. You woul dall be amazed at some of the stuff you can find. Also , I have had success emptying used tea. Just dry it out and sift it for a little free ground work.

The addition of the pole and some rubble at the front right corner has really helped to counterbalance the dio, Andy.

It appears that you used the cardboard sandwich thingy for the roof of the shed. If you did you may want to make sure the backing on the underside doesn't show up at the exposed sides.

As for you question on grass. I'm not quite sure what you meant by how to do grass growing under the wall but I'm assuming you meant how you should place them next to the brick wall. If that's the case then, any grass you use should be used sparingly and placed in small clumps. Vehicle movement and foot traffic would have compacted the soil making it difficult for grass to grow well.

Sticking some small clumps against the wall of your shed especially facing the Sherman might help add some additional detail. Sought of like small clumps clinging on to what little soil there is at the cracks between the pavement and wall.

Just use the fibres off a wood varnish brush. They take paint well and are fine enough.

Great job so far and getting better.

Thank you Cliff that is a good point, I had him originally that way but thought he would have driven in forwards to make unloading easier. I will switch them round and see how it looks.
Chris, I like the suggestion of some papers for the German.
I think I will try the cut brush bristle method for grass by the wall and shed.

Andrew looking good there mate!
Anything with a Sherman looks good :-)
Around Hamilton do you have thistles growing wild? The bristled head, (a yellowy colour) is great as grass and not to mention free... They grow in fields and flat rocky areas in vacant blocks etc.
Brad
P.S. When you see companys like Heki selling 3 of these heads in a bag for model railroads for like $10 or so...

Thanks Bradley,
The only Thistle that grows around these here parts is the Scottish Purple Thistle or Gorse (which is Yellow).
But I will keep an eye out for other grassy looking thistles.
