Does anyone have pictures of either/both interior or exterior of Monty's map caravan based on the Fordson Thames located at Duxford.

Any other pictures concerning Monty's caravans would also be appreciated.

Alan,

Geoff Lacey (315A South Lane, New Malden, Surrey, KT3 5RR) drew all of Monty's Vehicles available as a set in 1/76 scale. Some interior detail and colour are mentioned. Please include an SAE when writing.

Geoff and I measured the trucks when they were dispayed in the IWM at London prior to Duxford. I believe he has pictures too.

Regards, John-B

There were a couple of articles in Military Modelling but the focus was on the Leyland Retriever.

I can probably find them if you're interested.

I've been away from my PC for a while but I'll track down those articles and give you the details ASAP.

The first article is specifically about scratchbuilding interior detail for the Matchbox Leyland Retriever. It is in the July 1981 issue.

The second article is more general and includes some useful photographs. It is in the September 1995 issue.

Brookland Books Allied Military Vehicles Collection No 2 has an article about the Leyland and Mack caravans and has some useful detail drawings.

Norman Kirby's "1100 Miles with Monty" mentions the Tac HQ's vehicles but doesn't provide details and I'm still trying to find out what the 'tank', 'armoured car' and 'coffin-shaped' car were. I suspect the latter may have been a Humber Ironsides but I haven't been able to confirm it.
