Hoping you guys/gals here on the big A can help me out. I'm in need of some pictures of the AVDS-1790-9AR which is the engine that is used in the Merkava. I have searched hi and lo for pictures, drawings, anything and have come up with nothing. I have a future project in mind and need these as a referrence. They dont need to be crystal clear or even in focus, I just need to see how this thing looks. Hoping for the best. Thanks. "Q"

If I could read Japanese, it would help. Can you post pics of the engine you found? Thanks. "Q"

Sorry, my best reference, on which I based my Merkava I interior, has no engine shots.
However, on the Tanxheaven reference page is a picture of an AVSI-1790-6A "gasoline" engine. I think it may be mislabeled, because it sure looks similar to the diesel powerpack in the M60. That said, since earlier Merkavas had the same engine as the Centurions and M60 to ease logistical problems, could you not start with one of the resin M60 powerpacks already on the market?Just a thought...

Matthew, what I think you need is to get you hands on a copy of this:

If you use this link, you will be able to see the book has a couple shots of the engine.

Thanks for the info guys....
18B, That is what I was initially thinking, but wanted to confirm that they were at least close before diving in.

Ken, since I moved and boxed up all my crap, I don't remember if I have that Osprey book or not, BUT I will be buying one soon even if I do. A cannot wait until I get my new house done so I can unpack and get back to some normalcy.

Thanks again for the help guys. "Q"
