Hi, Just added a Jagdtiger to the 'my photos' section. I must apologize for not getting it in the right catagory, as I can never figure out which one it's supposed to be added to. (Be nice if there was a generic one.) Anyway, for what it's worth, there it is.

This is one of those re-issued kits that sort of slipped through the cracks, what with all the hype about this company's Tigers and Panzer IVs lately. It has a lot of newer additions to it--aluminum barrel, brass turned warhead and shell case, clear viewing scopes (not sure of the word here at the moment), magic tracks (not my favorite) etc.--from their older kit that was out a few years ago and without so many parts to it that it becomes something of a headache just to contemplate building in the first place.

I added the Fruilmodel tracts--Falt-22--to it and I can't believe how BIG these things look. Almost over-size for the kit, till I added the side skirts. Neat!

A good thing to remember here on this kit is to either glue the interior cannon breech inside in place or add some weight to the inside of it's rear breech section, otherwise when you add that aluminum barrel out front it will fall right down on the vehicle. I didn't do this and had to add a tiny plastic 'pin' up under the rear of the barrel assembly to hold it up.

Not real satisfied with the weathering yet and there are several mistakes here and there too. Added some MIG powders later and then had to tone these down with some Dullcote. Oh well, there's always another kit. At least I got this one together, which is what counts in the end. Ha, ha!

Thanks and take care, Sgirty

Hi Larry,

Beautiful job. I like the color scheme and the weathering..especially the track. Do you mind share the secret on who you paint the tracks? They look very realistic.

This kit is on my list of "must have". I was just wondering... how much difference is there besides the PE and the ALU barrel?

If there's no difference in the plastic section, then I would go for the older kit.

Hi, All I did on the tracks was to give them a couple good sprays of some black primer and the a lighter overspray, or heavy misting, if you will, of a rust primer. Then dabbed on some Pollly S mud and and drybrushing of silver or aluminun.

I think that even though Dragon had this kit out before, this is a re-tooling, or maybe a partial re-tooling of that one, as there seems to be more molded-on details in certain areas. Now I may be wrong here, but for some reason it just seems to fit differently from their older kit, at least as near as I can remember the other one.

Besides the barrel and PE screens, which fit like a glove, it also has clear periscopes, and a turned war head and casing. Plus it has an extra part or two to tune it into a command version as well, although no PE star antenna is included. And a new decal sheet with lots of numbers and about 5 different vehicles shown on the instructions.

You will have to pick and choose whether you want the older kit or not, but if you consider what a seperate barrel and PE screens, clear scopes, turned shell, will cost, plus their shipping, this newer kit is the better deal. Now if you want to add those Fruils, you're going to pay dearly anyway. I have more in the tracks than I do the kit. I picked mine up from R and J for $32, plus shipping.

Another good point here on the subject of tracks is to be sure to leave off those drive wheels till you fit the tracks. I had one heck of a time fitting those tracks on over the drivers. Luckily I didn't break anything doing it, but none-the-less they were a really tight fit with the drivers glued on before-hand.

Good luck and take care, Sgirty
