Watched the History channel show about Jeeps last night. I am finishing up my Tamiya jeep and caught a couple of things. Tamiya's Jeep has wiper motors for the windshield wipers but the restored 1942 vehicle shown had hand operated units. Were the motors added later in production, used on Ford Jeeps or just added by a restorer and Tamiya copied it? Also the same vehicle had what looked like green weather stripping at the base of the windshield were it contacted the body. I looked at my photos and at on-line photos of Jeeps and could not tell if the weather stripping was there on WW 2 vehicles. Anyone know?
Thanks,
Eric

Both hand-operated and motor-driven units were common in WW II - and in service at the same time. Some Jeeps were retrofitted by individual units, and some were not. Weatherstripping was also seen in both conditions on service Jeeps. The rubber deteriorated quickly, but most Jeeps were equipped with the weatherstripping.
