Hello,

I am trying to find the best way of using MIG pigment powders, I have tried using the powers by brushing them onto the model then fixing with Turpetine substitute - but I cant say that im happy with this.

Is this the best means of fixing the pigments?

Mainly I want to create dust, dried mud or sand effects on vehicles (both allied and axis).

I sprayed a 'dust mix' of tamyia paints onto the side of the tank but want to blend this more into the upper tank with the powders. What is the best way of doing this?

I use my pigment powders with acrylic thinner and vary the concentration of powder in the mixture. The more powder, the more muddy it looks.

Hi Goose

Ive tried the method you described and I didnt like my results either.

I just brush pigment or chalk pastel on directly with a small brush (make sure its an old or cheap brush ) into nooks and crannies then use a large makeup brush a "blusher brush??? " my gf kindly donated to blend into the paintwork.

I find a coat of dullcoat or somthing similiar fixes it as well, but be carefull handling your model prior to this stage as you will rub off or leave prints all over
