Branden--If you are truly set on super-detailing the crap out of your Marder III then definately get the Aber set #2. The main component of set number 2 is the fenders so definately get it if you plan to do damaged fenders.

About gun barrels, I would need to know which Marder III you are doing to know what barrel to recommend. The Marder III Ausf H uses the Soviet 76.2mm gun while the newer Marder III Ausf. M uses a German 75mm. There are replacements available for both vehicles. You might look into Jordi Rubio TG-50 if your Marder carries the 76.2mm. As for the PaK 40, both Elefant and Jordi Rubio make these barrels, but none are specifically for the Tamiya kit (at least not that I know of). The Rubio barrel is TG-25 while Elefant has a bunch for different vehicles and kits. I would suggest the Rubio barrel as Rubio more often than not makes the barrel with actual gun dimensions while Elefant tends to make barrels to fit specific kits even if the kits aren't correct (e.g. their replacement barrel for the Italeri M4A1 was an exact copy of the kit barrel which was based on a weird museum vehicle that had an incorrect gun on it).

Hello Brandon,
Try Royal Models as well. They make a pretty comprehensive group of sets for the Wespe and other AFV's.Thier stuff has always been an excellent buy. They also supply stuff that is usually missed by other companies.

One little note, the 7.5 cm used by Marder III M is L/46 rather than L/48 as found on later Pz IV and Stugs, so make sure you get the right one.

Branden,
The Marder III is one of my all time favorite subjects. Here's the latest one that I am working on... I used the Warriors update, Verlinden interior and ModelKasten tracks.

I would say don't bother with the Verlinden interior. The problem is that the interior is not really for a Marder III. The Verlinden interior is a generic 38(t) interior so even the instructions say remove parts of the interior if you are using the Verlinden ammo bins.

Other options are the very nice CMK interior and also I believe that Scale Line does one.

As far as general details, I have used the Warriors set, I have all of the Aber sets, and I have inspected the Eduard sets. I believe that the Aber sets are very good though, they are awfully complex to use. The set number 2 is nice, you get the fenders, tops for the ammo bins and the ends for the shell casings to finish off the ammo bins.

I have read reviews of the Royal Model set for the Marder III and it seems to be very nice.

K59 makes the best details for the Marder's. These sets correct all of the issues with the gun, the ammo bins and the gun shields. You can order these from R&J Enterprises.

As far as barrels, I tried to use the Jordi Barrel. I hadtrouble making it fit to the Tamiya parts. Most likely because the barrel was released a LONG time before the Tamiya kit and it probably fits the old Italeri 76.2 mm gun.

I have tons of references on the Marders, let me know if you need any info.
Later,
Tim
