Where do most of you get your 1/48 scale kits and accessories: the local hobby shop or online sources?
Just curious,

I've bought the actual Tamiya kits from local hobby shops. The after market sets by Lion Roar have come from sellers on eBay. I did buy the T-34/76 through Hobby Link Japan because I was also purchasing other items I could only get from there (Fine Molds barrels and Bandai Batman Begins Batmobile).
The majority of my Bandai kits came from local hobby shops or internet trades.

I bought my first model (DML JAGDTIGER 9036) from my LHS. I also buy my paints from them. I now buy most of my kits on ebay. Some great deals

Online. I live in NYC and kits here are outrageously overpriced.

Greetings All
Been buying the kits locally but I'm giving HLJ a try because even with customs I think I'll be ahead. I think the UK importer has been to NYC as well Larry Accessories have all come via the internet, so far with no problems.

I wait until kits are available at my LHS's. I don't mind the wait as the prices are pretty good; ie; $29 Can. for Skybow Tiger. Accessories and AM parts usually come from Track 48, M&M, Air Connection, R&J, Squadron, VLS, etc.

When it comes to 1/48 items I have been using online outlets as my main source. This is due (a) to cost, particularly the Tamiya kits, I can get them MUCH cheaper from Asian outlets, even more so when bought as multiple purchases, so spreading the cost of postage and the occasional customs charge (b) limited local availability, non-existant availability when it comes to after market items and accessories, and (c) convenience. While there are some model shops near by that I've bought kits from, they can be inconvenient to visit on the off chance they have items I want in stock due to my transport situation (or lack of it, right now I'm dependant on puplic transport or my bicycle).
